He's been awful on his own end the past 2 years (IIRC). I remember this play:

3:35 into the video. It sums up what he has been the last 2 years very well.

And give up what?

Talinder isn't going to fetch a MacArthur player the way he's been playing. We can't afford to give up picks anymore, we only have our 1st (?), 2nd, 4th, and 6th in this years draft. No one is giving up that type player for a prospect like Urbom unless a high pick comes along. It's pretty much all we can settle for now, to fill the void of Zubrus and Carter and hope they impress.

Considering Maple Leaf fans only expect a 2nd for MacArthur (and would be happy with that) I think Tallinder (or Tallinder + a pick) would get that done. However do you think MacArthur is a 1st line player? I think a similar package could fetch a Raymond as well. Both are similar players so the return should be equal.

I can see a Tallinder+ for Gagné type of trade. Basically a deal between 2 playoffs contending teams having opposite needs.

There won't be enough sellers, the few ones are going to ask for the moon and probably get it. I don't want to see Lou overpaying for a rental player.

id be on the gagne bandwagon, despite the fact that he is fading a bit. guy still has the talent and should be able to contribute in a top 6 role. dont think he would cost anything crazy either. the opposite needs thing would hopefully take out the need to throw in a draft pick, and the kings seem to be finding their way these days. likely not gonna see another trade between the same two teams (NJ/LA) though anyways.

Any chance Kulemin gets traded? He has a 2.8 million cap hit and I would think that the Maple Leafs would want the cap space to offer a huge contract to Perry, Backstorm, and/or Getzlaf.

Kulemin - Zajac - Kovy
Elias - Henrique - Clarkson
Poni - Loki - Zubrus

The Leafs have a log jam at D and need to move D out of town not bring another one in.

He's in the AHL because he was lazy and out of shape at their camp. He was the same last season with them when he actually played, but he is injured all the time. He's not very good in his own end, and doesn't have a great work ethic. Hardly Devils material.

Wouldn't surprise me. And I'd welcome him here. He'd be a good complementary forward for the top 6.

There is a reason he was benched dont know why Lou would want him.

Because you look for opportunities to buy low. In this situation, we have a top 6 calibre forward who is playing worse than his talent level, and might be able to thrive in a better system with his former coach.

To be sure, I would not pay a real heavy price for Weiss as he is a rental and also -11 currently, but he does have Top-6 talent and there may be familiarity with DeBoer.

Agree. That's what I think Lou will be looking for if we can hold together in the hunt here the next month.

Any kind of help that could make this team better is welcomed with opened arms. We're going to be out of the playoffs picture faster than you can say panic.

It's time to try to make a move. Unfortunately what assets do we have other than draft picks, or top rated prospects like Merrill?

It wouldn't appear as if Weiss would cost that much being that he's a UFA, but a lot of teams will call Florida -- boosting his price.

We have eight NHL defenseman and need to move one. Its time for Lou to get up from his nap and help his team out
