Whose spot is Jagr taking on the right side? Nash? Nope. Callahan? If Gaborik can't bump Cally out Torts' favor for a top-six spot, Jagr sure as hell isn't going to do it. Where does he play on the PP? Nash has his spot on the #1 unit, and even if you give him that spot on the #2, you're essentially cutting his PP time in half, and nearly 1/2 of his current points have come on the PP.

Adding Jagr to this team is just another move that doesn't address the real problem. Adding scoring is great, but adding scoring that doesn't fit the team is a waste of assets.
Nash just recently played LW and looked good. The Rangers don't have a legit LW and have so many RWs that could be changed if Nash played LW full time. Imagine nash-stepan-jagr line?

Won't lie, I keep forgetting that we posses like 90% of the leagues RW'ers.

Trxjw brings up a good point.

The thing is, if Jagr is going to dramatically improve our PP there will be a spot for him. No one on our team is scoring PP goals in bunches right now so i would assume if Jagr can help in that department, there's a spot that will open.

Nash can always play the left side as well. He can play either and unlike Gaborik he in comfortable on either side.

Nash Stepan Gaborik
Hagelin Richards Jagr
Kreider Miller Callahan

I'm not saying those should be the lines but if Jagr were to be brought over here and Gaborik doesn't get traded, it can work. Now, I'm not saying we HAVE to bring Jagr here, but I am saying that if we did, he could certainly help.

Well, if the deal is Gaborik for Jagr +, then we have the same situation with RWs as we do now. Don't know if dallas would go for something like that though.

Nash has looked far better on the RW than he has on the left. I'm not seeing the point of putting him in a weaker position just so we can make room for a guy who likely won't be here beyond this season.

Nash-stepan-jagr. Hags-richards-gaborik. Kreider-miller-cally. Pyatt/powe-boyle-asham.. if we couldn't score with that lineup we should just fold as a franchise

The Bruins are a pain to play against but the Pens, you can tell, are not afraid of going toe-to-toe with them in a 7 game series. With the additions of Murray and Morrow that will help. Hope this opens the flood gates a bit.

I think the asking price for Jagr would be a prospect + depending on the prospect. They want to rebuild. Not sure the prospect they would want would be worth it, but if the price is right I think Jagr could help us out a lot.

Sentimental attachments fans have with players...ahhhh so cute. But just saying, the only guy on the Rangers roster I would consider "untouchable", is Lundqvist. Everyone, and when I say EVERYONE, I mean even #24, is just another player on the roster. Try disassociating the name from stats, then get back to me on who you feel is still irreplaceable.

Edit: Please refrain from using words like intangibles, that is unless you can correlate how that intangible led to something other than an "atta boy"

Pittsburgh overpaid for Murray. Two 2nds or a 2nd and third is what's being reported. Ouch. Sellers market

Damn. Murray for 2 2nds? Makes you wonder what Gaborik's value would be at the deadline. I'm not advocating trading him, but if we were to trade him we might get a lot more than most would think.

He was playing with hags and stepan which was working. He hasn't been great on the RW with Richards. Hes played the majority of his career @ LW. To bring in someone like jagr..

Why is pitt going all in this year? Crosby is signed for an eternity

They smell blood in the water. Boston and Philly would be the only teams in the East as of now that would give them a series. One of those teams may not even make the playoffs. They'd steamroll over everyone else in 4 or 5 games on their way to the Cup Final

That's what everyone said last year too

He has another year of 7.5m on his deal and the cap is going down. Not an easy acquisition.

Malkin can be a UFA at the end of next year. Will he leave? Probably not. But if they can't get him signed would they move him rather than lose him for nothing? Maybe.

Anyway with what murray and morrow brought in, what's the price for a Jagr? Yikes

I would love to have Jagr here. Guy is a horse. I have watched him a lot this year. He can still bring it. I know he has slowed down and isn't exactly world class on the defensive side of the game, however, he still has that great puck possession and so his shifts are spent more in the offensive zone than the defensive zone. He is as he always been very hard to knock off the puck. I would not mind him here. But his cost will probably be too high.
