OK...try this speculation...Nashville may have an interest in Gaborik (source is Nashville radio announcers) The Predators have a bunch of youg gritty players both in the NHL and upcoming. What if the trade brings the Rangers a grit forward and a draft pick plus another player who can be flipped to San Jose as the primary piece in a deal for Boyle? I don't know enough the Nashville roster or who they are willing to move but this seems like something that could work for all three teams.

I would do it if its Bourque + one of their good hound dmen +

i don't believe gaborik is the problem. i think it's either the offensive 'system' or the team just playing too tight - afraid to get benched if they take a chance and eff-up.

Played in the same system under many of the same circumstances last year.

I like Gabriel Bourque, but I think we could definitely do better than him if we're looking for a forward in a trade for Gaborik. Bourque has 10 goals this year, but he has a super high 23.3% shot percentage. There's no way he sustains that.

Although, his goals do seem to come from high percentage chances (i.e, rebounds into an open net, defections). He's not just taking weak shots that are luckily going in for him.

I think he could end up being a 20 goal, 45 point guy that adds energy. At best, he has Callahan-lite upside, IMO.

Even though Fisher is signed through the next two years, I wouldn't mind getting him in the Gaborik trade. He's having a solid year (9 goals) and is top-9 righty centerman. Although, there is the risk that he bottoms out completely like Drury did. They're similar players, although Drury had a much higher peak.

I don't see any forward on Nashville's roster that makes the prospect of trading Gaborik particularly enticing. Some of their blueliners, however, would be nice. I also think Drew Stafford would be a disaster here. This fanbase would turn on him with a snap of the fingers. He's incredibly inconsistent, and when he's not scoring, he has a tendency to disappear completely.

Fisher i think has a partial no trade.. id love him on this team... he is one of the better 2 way centers in the game.. wish his contract was a little cheaper.

Yeah he is having a Dubi like 2011-2012. Normally a 45-50 point player. I remember rumors that the Rangers were interested in him the past couple of years. If that's true I could see them grabbing him.

He's another RW unless he can okay either side.

There were rumors the Rangers liked him in the draft. I forget but maybe there's a Sather connection to Stafford.

Agreed, I want no part of Stafford. People didn't like Wolski? Well, Stafford is the same type of player. When he's on, he's dangerous offensively, but otherwise, he's a floater who adds nothing of value. Just like Wolski, he has good size (6'2, 220ish) that he hardly uses. He should be a consistent 25 goal 2nd line winger. Too bad he lacks motivation and hockey IQ.

another big guy that doesnt use their size.. no thanks. :help: id rather have Ott or Torres than Stafford....

Stars might trade Jagr

I wouldn't say no if it only took a pick.

ONLY if they trade Gaborik, though, as we already have a RW glut.

This would be a nice roster, though...

Nash-Stepan-Jagr
Hagelin-Richards-Callahan
Kreider-Miller/TRADE-TRADE
Pyatt-Boyle-Asham

A man can dream, right?

Sather knew his Dad I believe, I think Sather had known him since he was a kid or something. Stafford was a big time consideration when we picked Montoya.

I'd be for a Jagr trade, regardless of Gaborik being traded or not. Heck, this time, trading for Jagr would actually make some sort of sense!

We need more JAM. Not skill or scoring. Jagr does not grind or block shots. He rarely dumps the puck. He scores plenty on the PP. Pass

....
You haven't provided a single piece of evidence that would suggest they do. If Ryan Callahan was out with the same injury that Ryan Kesler is out with, would that somehow lead you to believe that the Rangers would consider moving him on the grounds that it would help them this season? How about Patrice Bergeron?

Wanna bet that the Canucks won't trade Kesler?

NY and Vancouver are not in the same boat.

Thanks to Gord Clark, we have emerging prospects, maybe not all immediately here ready as of tomorrow, but we have some decent prospects. We also have a world class netminder closer to 30 than 36. And having realized last year was an aberration and the Torts system doesn't work and invites excessive injury/exhaustion, we are regrouping.

Vancouver is more inclined, IMO, to fall into the trap of must win now, which is usually not a preferred mindset.

Therefore, I think they would consider even high risk offers if there was enough upside.

I have tried to see if we can have an adult conversation about what would have to be in that substantial offer, just to determine if it is worthwhile or not, but you are pretty adamant about trying to shoot this down.

For example,
We could package
Stepan + Gaborik + Biron + minor pieces for balance
for
Kesler and HUGE pieces

Stepan would alleviate the loss of Kesler, which again for immediate purposes we are assuming is effectively a real loss to the Canucks this year anyway. They add Gabby + Biron and are stronger for their cup run.

You note I said "HUGE".
what kind of huge return could Vancouver offer?
Would it be enough overpayment to move stepan, who I bring up because that would be the obvious replacement for Kesler from Rangers?

BEFORE we go there, does anyone ELSE have other suggestions which could possibly be imagined, which do not necessitate the inclusion of Stepan?

I am consistent in saying make a deal which maximizes profit, and we should consider all options, with/without Stepan.

But let's look at it --- all of it --- with an open mind.

And yes, IF there is enough of an offer on the table, then yes, I'd bet you they trade Kesler

Nash-stepan-jagr.. hags-richards-gaborik. Kreider-miller-cally. Pyatt-boyle-powe.. what? Too much talent not enough jam
