The only way Nucks trade Kesler is if they get an offer they cant refuse.

Exactly!
And since this is the time they are more likely to move him IF AT ALL, what massive overpayment should we consider, ASSUMING it is possible to make one we can live with.

Open floor for open minds...

Want no part of Boyle. He is a Torts guy. Richards is enough. Torts was Mr. PP wizard in Buffalo with Mogilny,Ducky Hawerchuk and LaFontaine. Anyone could have been a genius with those guys. How many major injuries has Kesler suffered in the last 2 years? Hip surgery. Wrist and shoulder surgeries. Broken foot right now. Damaged goods.

Thank you RB.
I'd forgotten the extent of these earlier injuries.

Now I'm not automatically uninterested, but I certainly want him at damaged goods price.

I don't care if there are too many right wings...

Look like Roy might be available too. Would you guys do Gaborik for Morrow, Roy and a pick (1st or 2nd)? Both Morrow and Roy are UFAs at the end of the year. Morrow can play the left side and Roy center.

i want Jamie Benn... Del Zotto + Gaborik +??? i dont want to deal Del Zotto but Benn is worth it.. Rangers need a power forward like him..

No pun intended but gag... if they don't sign we trade Gabs for a 1st alone

NY and Vancouver are not in the same boat.

Thanks to Gord Clark, we have emerging prospects, maybe not all immediately here ready as of tomorrow, but we have some decent prospects. We also have a world class netminder closer to 30 than 36. And having realized last year was an aberration and the Torts system doesn't work and invites excessive injury/exhaustion, we are regrouping.

Vancouver is more inclined, IMO, to fall into the trap of must win now, which is usually not a preferred mindset.

Therefore, I think they would consider even high risk offers if there was enough upside.

Wanna bet that they don't trade Ryan Kesler? Wanna bet that no team will offer them something this season that will incline them to trade Ryan Kesler?

I have tried to see if we can have an adult conversation about what would have to be in that substantial offer, just to determine if it is worthwhile or not, but you are pretty adamant about trying to shoot this down.

Why would anyone engage in such a thing, when the answer, again, is eminently clear? The adult thing to do would be to accept that such a conversation is a total waste of time, since it has no basis in reality.

This thread is called the trade speculation thread. What you're looking for is the trade wishlist thread. You WANT the Canucks to trade Ryan Kesler, despite the fact that it is more than obvious that the Canucks WON'T trade Ryan Kesler. Not anytime in the near future, anyway.

For example,
We could package
Stepan + Gaborik + Biron + minor pieces for balance
for
Kesler and HUGE pieces

Stepan would alleviate the loss of Kesler, which again for immediate purposes we are assuming is effectively a real loss to the Canucks this year anyway. They add Gabby + Biron and are stronger for their cup run.

You note I said "HUGE".
what kind of huge return could Vancouver offer?
Would it be enough overpayment to move stepan, who I bring up because that would be the obvious replacement for Kesler from Rangers?

BEFORE we go there, does anyone ELSE have other suggestions which could possibly be imagined, which do not necessitate the inclusion of Stepan?

Once again, excellent job of taking into consideration the needs of the other team. Clearly, Martin Biron will be a big help for Vancouver's cup run as he sits in the press box in the role of third goaltender.

I am consistent in saying make a deal which maximizes profit, and we should consider all options, with/without Stepan.

But let's look at it --- all of it --- with an open mind.

Let's maximize our profit by trading for Sidney Crosby, then. I would consider all options for that, and I demand that you look at it - all of it - with an open mind.

And yes, IF there is enough of an offer on the table, then yes, I'd bet you they trade Kesler

Brilliant deductive skills, bern. IF there is enough of an offer on the table, than any team would trade any player. Yes, the Lightning would probably trade Steven Stamkos if they were getting Sidney Crosby back. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that such a thing will ever happen. Much in the same way, while the Canucks could potentially trade Kesler if the return was big enough, they won't, because there will be no return that is big enough offered.

Thus, I again say: wanna bet that they don't trade Kesler? How much do you want to bet that Ryan Kesler won't be traded this season? It doesn't even have to be money, just something board related. Like, for example, if Kesler is traded, I'll go one year without proposing any trades on the forum. If Kesler isn't traded, you go one year without proposing trades.

Deal?

I was thinking maybe if they trade Boyle that both Fast and Lindberg come over. Lindberg was thought of a bottom 6 center, but this season he has been bringing the offense too. What about a swede line of Hagelin-Lindberg-Fast. From what i know, Fast is basically Hagelin on the right side.

Zuccarelo-Richards-Gaborik
Nash-Stepan-Callahan
Hagelin-Lindberg-Fast
Kreider-Newbury-Miller

Obviously that is NEVER going to happen because there is no shutdown line and that 4th line isn't defensively responsible enough, but if you are looking for something ridiculous that seems pretty solid to me

edit: The team would be pretty soft, but they shouldn't have a problem scoring LOL. Please do not take me serious, no this well never happen.

Jagr. He still has it

Perhaps, but I doubt Glen is going to win that bid, or join in it at all. Bringing back a former captain could create a bit of a locker room problem, its not a Messier situation where Callahan will just hand him back the captaincy by default.

Dunno, just seems to weird to happen.

No pun intended but gag... if they don't sign we trade Gabs for a 1st alone

And if Gabby doesn't re-sign with dallas in 2014, they'll have given away 2 pending UFAs that they could have gotten futures for and a 1st round pick for 1 year of Gabby. It goes both ways.

I'd love to get a young guy who can help us now and in the future, but I don't know who that is. There aren't that many options out there.

I would actually like Antropov for the third line center. Would add some scoring depth, and shouldn't cost much. Is also an expiring. Would LOVE Clowe too. A guy like him would fit well next to Gaborik. Could make for a pretty solid overall team IMO.

Hags-Richards-Nash
Clowe-Stepan-Gaborik
Kreider-Antropov-Callahan
Asham/Powe-Boyle-Miller

Other things could be done (Zuccs,Fast etc.), and the lines could be changed for sure.

Antropov and Clowe are VERY slow.

Antropov would probably be a cheap acquisition who could help our bottom six. Only problem is he's not much of a skater, would need to put some speedsters on the wings to make it function.

with the trade history Rangers Wild have. i am hoping for Cal Clutterbuck.... he would fit well here...
