Sure, Iginla is older and a UFA, so Gaborik will have a bit more value -- but some of that is mitigated by Gaborik's struggles this season, and the fact hes a ghost when hes not scoring goals...same cant be said about Iginla.

Nonethless, he is traded for 2 B-level prospects, and a 1st rounder that'll be close to 30th overall.

My only saving grace is that Jay Feaster is one of the worst GM's in the league.

But the thought we can hoodwink a team for a top 6 forward, a top prospect, and a 1st rounder is pretty far fetched.

Except that Boston was prepared to offer one of their top prospects for him.
 
The only reason Iginla went for so little was because he said he wanted to go to Pitt. Shero said, "There you go Jay, so these are your options" Feaster's chubby hands were tied on this one.

Not to mention that Feaster wants to keep Iginla happy. Iginla's been a fan favorite and loyal player throughout his career. If Pitt wins this year, there's no reason he can't resign with the Flames, especially since Jay honored his wishes.
 
Shattenkirk would be AMAZING for this team. He would be the best RD in this team. If St Louis wants Gabby for Shattenkirk, you take it and run.

We have one go-to line for scoring up front (Nash, Hags, Step). The other three lines are often juggled, and the third and fourth are often completely useless.

This Ranger team is basically working with one forward line. Thats ****ing atrocious.

1/4 lines. Id much rather use a 40 goal scorer to get more offense back in the form of forwards.

what about blueline defense... Barret Jackman to NYR for Boyle (cap reasons) and Brady Skjei??? Rangers need a defenseman that makes players think twice about poking or running into Lundqvist at least untill McIlrath is 100% ready

I like Jackman, can he play the right side? Skjei would be overpayment, Boyle and a pick would do it value wise, but the last thing the Blues need is another center

Let's ask for Pietrangelo, too, while we're at it.

Shattenkirk, Oshie and Stewart all have more or the same amt of points as Gaborik, are younger and cheaper.

Let's ask for two of them.

Iginla is not in the lineup for Pittsburgh tonight. Trade coming? I hear Boston is interested.
 
Will Lundqvist Re-Sign

Yes, I admit I'm a little but hurt right now. But lets talk about this and be realistic.

Henriks contract is up after next season. Every single season he does literally EVERYTHING to keep HIS team in it. Last season we where #1 I recall in the playoffs we struggled even throughout the playoffs, but having Hanke we brought us to the ECF..

Hank adores NY, I hate to say it I highly doubt Hanke will resign so he can be on another mediocre team..

If the Rangers don't fix things asap do you expect the Rangers to trade Hanke in his contract year next season? I think Hanke is getting annoyed and a little too impatient being on a team that does not score goals.. It's been since he's a rookie since its been like this.. I believe we will be forced to trade him next season instead of losing him from FA.

I know it's a little crazy here right now, but I want a serious convo about this..

Sather should have done that last year :help: in 6 years rangers will start to need to look for a future goalie.. it Lundqvist was drafted in 2000 and didnt make the NHL for 6 years later...
 
I don't think he's going to leave guys. I mean, we're frustrated as **** right now and I'm sure he is too, I'm sure the whole team is, but goalies have stuck around on much worse teams than this one. We have been a solid team since he started playing here and last year was our best year in a long long time. I think we're set back a little. Started the season, lost confidence, lost Richards completely, and just started sinking. Maybe not this year, but next year we'll pick it back up and be the team we all thought we were going to be this year.

lets hope Rangers draft a good goalie. the last few ones were either traded, not signed or turned out to be bums. at least Al Montoya Chad Johnson and Jason Labarbera turned out to be NHL depth goalies :amazed:
