ive been saying it for the past 3 years. We need goalies in our system.. We don't want to be stuck like the Devils..

Ehh Devils have Wedgewood. In a couple of years he'll be pretty solid i think. They can always find a stop gap until then.

If we lost Hank we literally have no one. And I am not going back to the days where guys like Dunham were our number 1.

Pyatt to Wings for Justin Abdelkader

Wings always look for veteran help at the deadline...Rangers can use a pk player with size and some grit...

what makes you think Pyatt is worth anything more than gum on the bottom of someone's shoe that has been walking for days through a muddy swamp

My GM take:

Fire Torts, hire MacTavish

Trade Gaborik for 1st rounder, prospects

Trade Boyle/Pyatt and get either late round picks or depth players

Amnesty Richards

Sign 2nd-3rd line center like Tyler Bozak

REBUILD - Go young.

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Bozak-Callahan
Miller-Lindberg-Fasth
Asham-Bourque-Powe

Staal-Girardi
McD-MDZ
McI-Stralman

Hank
Biron

Are we trying to push Hank out the door? He'd hate this team even more than he does right now.

As long as Hank is here, this team will not be doing a rebuild.

Hes going to be 32 our next (hopefully) chance at a Cup. 5 years at least of prime goaltending from him, which really isnt that much time.

Moves that need to be made should be a mix of immediate help and futures.

I dont care who we trade... These are the guys I keep.

Nash, Hank, Mcdonagh, Staal, Del Zotto, Kreider, Miller, Callahan, and Stepan.. everyone else can suck a lemon.

Lol rebuild.

We are 8th. Sure changes need to be made but a rebuild? Come on now.

I have a feeling the Rangers really are buyers and sellers

they will sell Boyle and Pyatt for picks and they will buy replacements for picks

The only reason Iginla went for so little was because he said he wanted to go to Pitt. Shero said, "There you go Jay, so these are your options" Feaster's chubby hands were tied on this one.

Living in Calgary, I do get somewhat interested in what goes on in my backyard.

When I first read the breaking news that Iggy was going to Boston for two prospects and a 'conditional first round pick', I learned that the condition was the old standard 'he will resign with the Bruins'.
I thought that was really weak of Feaster.

Then I find out it is the Penguins. Now, the first round pick is not conditional, but a in-the-pocket done deal first round pick.
Did Boston simply blow it, or did the Penguins simply roll for broke?

I bet Iginla was going to pick Pittsburgh anyway, but obviously Shero could not sell a conditional first pick based on the resigning of Iginla, not with the signings the Penguins have in front of them, with a lower Cap to boot.
I don't really respect the way the Flames management have done things, but even they would know that the same condition with Pittsburgh is a whole lot different than that same resigning of Iggy condition with Boston.

No matter what, Calgary Flames have really blown it. They have already proven how dangerously stupid they are with the SOB fiasco. Heads should roll at Flames headquarters, but they never felt the need to change anything. The fans line up, they cannot get enough. I think that might change now that Iginla is gone, and Kiprusoff may very well just pack it in. He can do that, with his contract.

Anybody who compares NYR with the Flames organization, is really missing some key facts. The Flames handed out large $$ and no trade clauses under GM Darryl Sutter to just about anybody. I bet the stick boy got a NTC. They did this while totally ignoring the farm, and its integration with the big league club. They are screwed for years.

Sounds like a good plan except for the part about McTavish! Why not wait until Laviolette gets fired?

No such thing as an untradeable player. Would trade everyone if given the right offer. Obviously some players are significantly more likely than others to be traded due to the ability to get the "right offer." That is the chances an offer comes along for, say, Lundqvist that seems to be good value is effectively zero.

rebuild talk is just ridiculous by the way

Trading Gaborik and being a seller not so ridiculous. Just get a first back and 2 Depth Forwards that have some guts

I never said rebuild.

I said they should be sellers, not buyers. Gotta move some pieces: Gabs, Pyatt, Boyle etc.

Get some flexibility for the summer.

Fire the coach, but whatever.

We could probably easily send Gabs to Boston for a 1st, Horton, and a decent prospect.

wont matter what we do for next year's team if Torts is still here. Thats gotta be priority 1, sending him packing.

So basically keep every player we have? Have to give to get.

I really hope STL blows the rest of the season. Perhaps we can pry out Backes from them. I'd give Staal++ in return for sure.

Hardly "keeping every player we have". This team just needs to cut the deadweight, not change key pieces to their like Stepan, Hagelin, Kreider.
