Willing to pay 2nd rd pick + a decent prospect like Thomas?
This is my speculation of what it would take.

i wouldnt want to deal Thomas. offensive skilled prospect that is a goal scorer.. rather deal Bourque or Steven Fogarty and not deal a 2ed since no first this year... rather deal one of the 3rd NYR has.

the gabby deal needs to get done before wed, makes room for other smaller deals

this has been the trend the last few years, why wait when you can have 24-48 hours to fill other needs out

if gabby is a ranger on tuesday night ill be shocked

at this point jagr is a better option at 4.5, then add a sparkplug tootoo player

Everybody and their uncle know the Rangers are looking for a decent RD, the price will not be that low.

For kicks:

Pavelski, D. Boyle and SJ's 1st rounder for Miller, Del Zotto, Hamrlik and one of the Rangers' 3rd round picks.

yes, lets wait until henrik has had enough and will be gone

henrik/nash/callahan are all in there prime

and with all the contracts up in the next couple years they need to make a move now

this team in case you forgot was in game 6 of the east final last year

there window is still now, they can turn it around if they make the gabby trade along with a couple minor ones

I think we should not get blinded by what they accomplished last year and look more to what is going on now not only in THE NYR team but league wide .

this team in case you forgot was in game 6 of the east final last year

...and 1 goal away from losing in the first and second rounds...

That said I agree with your main point (which is why I wouldn't trade Gabby)...this team's window is closing...they need to bring in a player or two...and possibly fire Torts...anybody have Lindy Ruff's number.

...And Happy Birthday, Mr. hockey!

torts wont be fired unless maybe we miss the playoffs... but we need to make moves I agree..

Powe, pyatt, asham, gabs only if the offer is amazing.. we still have a bright bright future..

mcd, DZ stilll young pups and Girardi and Staal enter prime yrs..

Kreider, Miller, Step, Hags all young pups under the age of 24..

Callahan, Nash in their primes as well as hank..

we havent seen the best hockey this year... but we're still in a great window for success.. we're a young team still, will have plenty of ups and downs but we def over achieved last year.. no worries, rebuild bottom 6 with more toughness, let young guys get more comfortable instead of this bootleg half season ******** and we'll be back with a force.. LGR!!!

THANK YOU! Been saying this since the season started but everybody seems to disagree. My recent posts suggest moving Gaborik now only because that's what I believe they are going to do.

Uh, ive been saying the same thing.

For kicks:

Pavelski, D. Boyle and SJ's 1st rounder for Miller, Del Zotto, Hamrlik and one of the Rangers' 3rd round picks.

If you said that in a room for of Ranger fans I think you'd get plenty of kicks and some punches too.

players like hank don't come around much, chances are we wont have another player like him for a long time

gabby doesnt fit the system, torts wants a gritty shot blocking tough team, as much flake as richards is taking atleast he shows up in the playoffs, remember how clutch he was last year

most ranger fans are on board with trading gabby for 2 or 3 key pieces and detriot/sharks/dallas are among them

this team needs the following 3 pieces
-sparkplug tootoo type player
-good depth 2nd or 3rd liner
-solid right side d-man that can play on the powerplay

dan boyle would fit great imo, if they can somehow movie gabby and get boyle along with tootoo in another trade they could contend

Obviously there is no guarantee either sign here, but hypothetically.. what if we traded Gaborik for a 1st + top prospect + RD and signed Weiss and Horton in the offseason? we could keep Gaborik's 7.5 and still sign our RFAs so its not likely to hurt our cap that much. I had Weiss at about 4 and Horton at 4.5

anyway, team would look something like this..

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Richards-Callahan
Miller-Weiss-Horton
Zucc-Boyle-Asham

Staal-Girardi
Mcd-RHD (gaborik trade)
Del Zotto - Stralman
Eminger/Gilroy/Mcilrath/etc.

Hank
Biron/Talbot

Weiss is going to get $5.5M+ on the open market.

I'd rather not sign another UFA center.

From all that everyone has said on here, he's not a bonefide number 1 either.

Would fit the Drury, Gomez and (potentially) Richards mold for the Rangers.

Going to play some Be-A-GM cause I'm Bored and its late.

The Rangers and Red Wings make very good trading partners and can fulfill both teams needs..

:wings
Marian Gaborik
Brian Boyle
Matt Gilroy

:rangers
Valtteri Filppula
Gustav Nyquist
Ian White
Jordan Tootoo

:rangers
Tomas Kopecky

:panthers
Mats Zuccarello
Marek Hrivik
2014'5th

--------

Carl Hagelin - Derek Stepan - Rick Nash
Tomas Kopecky - Brad Richards - Ryan Callahan
Chris Kreider - Valtteri Filppula - Gustav Nyquist
Jordan Tootoo - JT Miller - Darroll Powe

Ryan Mcdonagh - Dan Girardi
Marc Staal - Michael Del Zotto
Ian White - Anton Stralman

Looks like a pretty good squad.
I'd be a fan of this team. I just doubt we'd trade Zuccs. But if we do trade Gabby, this is the kind of deal I'd want and it'd add a lot of depth to the team and help for the future
