You are absolutely correct in this. I mentioned this because Leetch and Graves were loved more by the city/NYR than Callahan is. My statement was basically saying anybody can be traded. The only player I would be SHOCKED at being traded right now would be Lundqvist and Nash (only because we just got him)... everybody else I could see being traded. I get we all love Callahan (so do I, I have his jersey) but you have to at least consider moving him for a top LW if it balances our team better.

Our defense/keeper is our heart IMO. Staal, Danny G, McD and Hanks is our heart. Callahan is a huge part of it as captain but I think that could be replaced (the heart part easily by those 4)

We have a ****ing top LW and he's playing the RW where we already have 2 capable ****ing RWs playing.. This pisses me off so damn much.

Centers - Stepan-Richards
LW - Nash-Hagelin
RW - Gaborik-Callahan

whats so damn difficult about that?>
 
The Rangers in hindsight should have avoided so much turnover....maybe keep Mitchell and Feds. Just seems like despite Nash being great the team lacks chemistry.

No Prust Feds Mitchell Dubi Artie .... There goes the depth.

I don't really see a great trade out there for the Rangers.... We spent our shot on Nash. We NEED to replenish the depth from within. We need Krieder and Miller and Hags to become contributors.

I trade Gaborik over Callahan 11 times out of 10, especially this season. This team looks lost with the roster being revamped. I can't imagine they'd fare too well with their Captain suddenly gone from the team.

Hagelin has contributed alot this year, Miller has played better than expected (though he does make some stupid turnovers trying to be too cute), Kreider should be up here playing more than 4 minutes a game

I dunno, maybe the part where Rick Nash is a natural right winger and has played RW his whole career? Why go all out to get Nash only to move him to the LW...

I agree but we are NOT fairing so great as it stands. Perhaps more balance and a natural LW on the top 2 lines would help more. Maybe it wont, but at least it's a convo starter.

I think on the surface your idea is logical. but Cally is more than his stat sheet shows. He is coming into his prime and he is a solid 2 way, lead the way hockey player. We laugh about intangibles, maybe Drurys intangibles burnt us out, but Cally is not to be under rated IMO. He is the Man...

So then why don't we trade Gaborik instead? Makes way more sense.

Yes, and its a process... This is surely where they justified dealing Dubi and Artie. Nash being a beast but also that we had guys ready to step in and take the ice time and contribute. It's been ok... Could be better... I believe will get better.

Like you already said, Gaborik is having a down year. He's been hot/off every year here. If we go by that he's sure to net 40 next season in his walk year. And honestly as much as I love Callahan if I want a goal, I put Gabby or Nash on the ice before Callahan. That's my opinion. Yes, Callahan is a #2 RW but on this team IMO he's a #3 (what a great thing to have) except we're not even in the playoffs at the moment.
 
Everyone is pissing and moaning about how we lost "heart and soul" guys in Dubi, Prust, and Feds during the offseason.

So naturally, we should trade the hardest working player on the team and it's captain. Marvelous.

Callahan is cheaper, younger, plays an excellent two way game and is having a MUCH better season than Gaborik is and he's our Captain.

I know we are all upset about how disappointing this season has been but when we get to the point where we suggest trading Cally....

Absolutely! Not disagreeing at all but we still have 3 very good right wingers and I personally rate Callahan as the 3rd best RW on the team. I'm sure other fans have him higher but I don't. Like I said, I love Cally as much as the next guy but I love the Rangers more.

no way I'm trading Callahan.. Gaborik would also bring back more than Callahan would. I dont think we should trade either based on 25 games!

So because Cally and Gaborik can't play as good as Nash on the LW we take our best RW and move him to the left? We take our best offensive weapon and move him out of position for two less offensive players? That's crazy imo. Sure Nash can play LW but why the hell do we have one of the top 5 rw's in the NHL on the left side?

Rick Nash is a LW. He was drafted as a left wing and played on the top line with Zherdev as a left wing. He was moved to RW I think last year or the previous year by Columbus.

because we have a logjam at RW.. Nash can play either side. He's succeeded before at either side (Columbus, olympics, etc). It would give us more balance. Or we could just keep all 3 of them on the RW and bring up Kreider to play 2nd line LW and see what happens, sure as hell can't be any worse

Agreed on all counts but it's still worth debating! :-)

If we had another top LW then sure, keep/put Callahan on the 3rd line and of course we'd have the best 3rd line RW in the game but we don't.

If we can get more for Gaborik, doesn't that say something like... hey maybe we over value Callahan than other teams because he's our captain/heart/gritty/possible 30goal scorer???? Gaborik is proven. Yes, Callahan is also but not as high as Gabby. I can't compare Cally and Gabby because they are such different players but our system suits Cally more...
