Callahan is in his prime. Gaborik is 31. Leetch and Graves where both way past their primes and that team was done and needed to be rebuilt. I also would argue that Gaborik is a better RW than Cally, he is a more talented goal scorer but I don't see him as a better overall player.

Rick Nash is a LW. He was drafted as a left wing and played on the top line with Zherdev as a left wing. He was moved to RW I think last year or the previous year by Columbus.

I thought so.. I don't get why people said Nash has played RW his whole career.

so since Nash can play the LW.....

Hagelin-Richards-Gaborik (this line killed all last year)
Nash - Stepan- Callahan
Kreider (bring him up) - miller - RW
Pyatt-Boyle/Halpern-Powe/Asham. whatever. its a good 4th line.

Its alot easier finding a 3rd line RW than a top line LW.

or bring up Kreider and leave Nash on the RW.

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Richards-Gaborik
Pyatt-Miller-Callahan
Powe-Halpern-Boyle

He looks better on the right side to me. His shot seems to have more accuracy on the right side also. When I played HS hockey, most left handed guys had better accuracy on the right side but harder shots on the left side. I'm not gonna sit here and lie and say I watched Nash in columbus, I doubt I ever saw him play a game for Columbus other than against the NYR, Team USA or the odd Devils/Islanders - Jackets game on cable when the Rangers aren't playing but from what I can see, he's better as a RW on our team.

Edit: Would also just like to point out that if Team Canada has plans on Nash being the 3rd line RW for them during 2014 then I think Nash should be our top RW. Just saying.

Is he better on the RW? I dunno maybe, but the point is. he has succeeded (30 goals or more) playing LW before. If Nash is on the RW and playing great and Gaborik continues to suck because he's with guys like boyle/miller or playing his off wing, then doesnt it make more sense to put the guy there who has succeeded there before?

That's is all paper talk though. Even this was true wouldn't it be

Nash - Richards - Gaborik

on the top line and doing great since Gabby is a 40 goal scorer and Nash can score 30 on the left wing as you mentioned?

And more frequently Gaborik has been the one playing LEFT WING on a line with Stepan and Callahan.

This whole 3 RW's filling the top two lines just has this team a mess. I'm fine with trading Gaborik or Callahan as long as it's for a LW.

I want Nash as my #1 RW and either Gabby or Cally as my #2 RW. The odd man out should be moved. I was just saying that while all this talk is about moving Gabby, the lesser offensive player Cally should be talked about being traded also as what seems to be the problem with our New York Rangers is lack of goals.

right and he's sucking at it... I just don't see why you would rather trade Gaborik/Callahan for a LW when Nash can play there.

Scoring is indeed a problem yet I see Callahan generating more offense than Gaborik and not stocking up all his goals in 4 games either.

Ok, let me write this down in terms of lines.

Hags - Stepan/Richards - Nash
Perron - Richards/Stepan - Gaborik
or
Perron - Richards - Nash
Hags - Stepan - Callahan

verus

Nash - Stepan/Richards - Gaborik / Cally
Hags - Richards/Stepan - Gaborik / Cally

thats the biggest thing about this team is we changed over so many from last year to this year.. I know thats not an excuse but

Last year/past yrs New
Dubi Nash
AA Pyatt
Feds Asham
Mitchell Powe
Prust Miller
Rupp Kreider
Kreider Haley

We changed over half our offense.. its going to be a struggle and the teams that win champs have played more then one season together..

Our biggest down fall this year was the regression or lack of play from Kreider and toughness on the 3rd lines..

Nash-Richards-Gab
Hags-Step-Callahan
kreider-Miller- X (Palmieri)
Powe-Boyle-Haley/Asham w/e they play 5mins a game, I dont expect much out of this line..

we have the offense.. we all know what our needs are for trades wise.. I wonder how far along McIrath is... and I would actually considering bringing up Palmieri, guy has NHL experience, can bring toughness and can score goals.. might work well with miller

neither Gaborik or Callahan would get us Perron though. They would want a top dman.

And since we are so inept at scoring, lets just keep both our Captain and 40 goal winger. Makes more sense.

before we did anything, I'd bring Kreider back up and give him a legit shot with legit ice time as the 2nd LW.. then we would need a 6th dman and a 3c really.

I'm all for this. I honestly think this team (minus some replacements in the bottom 6) should get more than 25 games. I do believe the team needs a better bottom 6 though. bring up Kreider and bring in a 3C who can contribute.
