I just want the new ownership to take over. Scared of what we are willing to trade. I need a new era to start, so that I can see which way this team will be moving from that point. And I am not saying it will be better (although it's hard to imagine that it can get worse), but at least we will know what to expect. Right now the worst possible scenario is to let Dorion trade our good players for something crappy and then a month later the new ownership replaces him with a good GM.

Speaking of which, do you guys think there is a iota of chance that the new owner will keep Dorion for another year or two? Just curious how 100% sure we are that he is gone right away (our wishes aside).

How much would extending him cost and where does he fit in the lineup with Chabot and Sanderson ahead of him on the left?

I don't think he's really a fit unless bigger moves are also made.

I am not exactly sure, I think Gavrikov is probably the best fit in terms of the mold of d-man we need - but he plays the wrong side and I would not know what his contract demands would be.

I know we have been linked to him and there have been rumors on the Sens board around our involvement in a 3-way trade.

I can't see Gavrikov signing for an amount that we can afford to give him. If he would, he'd be extended with Columbus already. You have to imagine that he was offered Gudbranson's deal at the minimum, and that's about as high as we can go with him.

Playoffs aint happening.

Chychrun is going to cost more than we should pay. And he's not going to get us to the show this year (or next).
You are partially correct.

Chychrun, a healthy Norris and Zub probably gets us to the show next year and would have this year.

A real NHL coach would guarantee it.

(Assuming Zaitzev and his cap hit were blasted into space).

Ok, ya, I get you then.

Short of a hamburglar, we're done
Lol, love it every time I see it.

Short of going on another of possibly the most historic late season comeback to make the playoffs ever by any team in league history, we're cooked.

I'd say we're cooked.

Alex Formenton is better than Watson, Motte, Brassard, Gambrell, Joseph, Kelly & everyone in Belleville. Also need to upgrade on Holden, Zaitsev & Brannstrom & try & put together a package for a decent RD. Brady Tkachuk is turning into the premier powerforward in front of the net in the NHL.

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Giroux
Formenton - Norris - DeBrincat
Greig- Pinto - Batherson

I want either Mayfield , Colton Parayko or Zadorov!
Gimme 2/3.

Both Mayfield and Zadarov and we have some monsters on the RD that can hit. Sign Mayfield to a Zub like contract in FA. Trade Holden, Watson and a 3rd to the Flames for Zadarov.

What are you trying to say here? Which reality?
That this team isn't making the playoffs and buying right now is at an all time expensive due to the time of year.

Which is why they should look into moving Debrincat. I'm here to watch this team win a cup. Not toil in mediocrity.

Who would you rather have on the Senators going forward. Timo Meier or Alex DeBrincat?
Meier but that's more due to what this top 9 is missing. To and extent Giroux, Debrincat and Batherson bring a similar skillset. This team is missing speed and a heavy forcheck. In a vacuum Debrincat and Meier are similar level players.

If Debrincat can turn into a top 4 d man and a prospect then the sens focus on finding s burner in the top 9 they are a better team than keeping him. What happens with the hockey canada investigation has a big impact on Debrincat. In a scenario where neither Formenton or Batherson are implicated they should absolutely trade him. If both Batherson and Formenton are implicated then they have to sign him. If it's just Formenton then it's a hard decision. Depends on what money he wants and what they can get back for him.

I think Formenton is gone. Difficult to pencil him into future lineups.
