Not saying too but we need to get lucky like both Col and TB did in finding guys like Point Kuch,or winning a trade that nets you a Byram
You could say maybe they already did by getting arguably the best player from the 2018 and 2020 drafts without picking first.

Also, Batherson being a later round steal. Pinot is also arguably soaring past his draft stock as even some ar the time thought it was a bit of reach. Norris developing beyond initial projections, but i suppose he was still a mid first rounder. And of course the Sharks pick from the Karlsson deal was much higher than anticipated.

Crazy trade idea (probably more suited for the summer than right now):

:isles get DeBrincat (with extension), Pinto, Brannstrom

:sens get Dobson, Beauvillier/Bailey, Pageau

Barzal gets his shooter, Pinto is a NY kid and can take over for Nelson at 2C eventually, Brannstrom can help run their PP

We get a young top pairing two-way RD, a replacement winger for a year to play on the 2nd/3rd line until Greig is ready (or longer if Formenton is finished), and Pageau can hold down the 3rd line C position for the next 3 years at an average salary of 4M (front-loaded deal).

NY would need to be re-sign Mayfield and be comfortable with him and Pulock as their top 2 RDs for this to be even considered of course, but I think the value is there if they would be fine with that.

Next season:

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Beauvillier - Stutzle - Giroux
Formenton - Pageau - Joseph
Kelly/Greig - Kastelic - Watson

Chabot - Dobson
Sanderson - Zub
Holden - Thomson/JBD

Talbot?
Forsberg

Honestly, we need Formenton. Fastest player in the league, 20 goals scorer, good on the PK. He would completely change the dynamic of the top 9 with Norris out.

Tkachuk - Stützle - Giroux
Debrincat - Pinto - Batherson
Formenton - Kastelic/Greig - Joseph

I love Dobson, but no thanks. I don't see NYI being willing to move Dobson, and I don't like the idea of giving up both DeBrincat and Pinto.

I doubt they'd move him for anything less than a significant overpayment, which I think the trade accomplishes. He's a future #1 RD (if not already) making 4M for the next 3 years. Would be the perfect finishing piece for the defense.

Personally I'd rather we not give DeBrincat a massive contract, even if he wants to re-sign. Have enough money allocated to the top 6 already and need to keep funds available to fix the D and goaltending positions. Hate giving up Pinto but I think Pageau should be able to do a good job at 3C for the next 3 years at a cheaper salary than Pinto would cost, even on a bridge deal. Giving up two premium assets in ADB and Pinto and getting one back in Dobson is the only way I could see the deal happening.

Formenton + Zaitsev for EK65 @ 50% retention. Grier likely slams the phone down before any of us useless posters lol. But a fully healthy line-up looks like this:

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Batherson
Debrincat-Norris-Giroux
Motte-Pinto-Joseph
Belly-Kastelic-Watson
Belly is Brassard/Kelly love child.

Chabot-Zuuuub
Sanderson-EK65
Brannstrom-HoldHam

With the way Karlsson is playing so far, they might not have to retain anything and he could end up a hot commodity if he can sustain similar play all year.

I'd easily do a 2nd+ for Demelo, but the Jets are competing rn so they're probably not trading anyone.

Wouldn’t trade a 4th for Demelo, don’t need anymore 3rd pairing guys or guys were playing above what they are.

If the Jets were offered a 2nd + for Demelo they are driving him to the airport as quick as possible before it was cancelled. 2nd + for a guy on their 3rd pair is larceny.

Logan stanely is the player to target from that list. Great time to buy low. He also adds an element to our d which we are missing in terms of size, physicality and nastiness.
He doesn't fill the RHD need though,

We can still look for a RHD throughout the season. Acquiring Stanley would be about making an inexpensive upgrade to our defense by targeting a decent young player when their trade value is low.

It also adds some size, physicality and nastiness to the d core which is something we don't have much of. Even from an organizational standpoint the only big physical d prospects that are close to NHL ready are Kleven and Nordberg, and Nordberg is expected to go to the SHL next season. Stanley gives us that player who can play now and still has room to grow and be developed.
