Zub or Chychrun would be much better for Sanderson.

Hamonic has been alright with some good and bad games. If you want to be a playoff team we need to improve the top 4 and the obvious player to move down is Hamonic
Sanderson and Stutzle’s development is the single most important thing for this franchise bar none.

You don't think adding another legit top 4 defensemen would help Sanderson?

Quality Depth only helps young players

Adding is fine as long as you keep Sanderson with Hamonic for the next 40 or so games minimum.

I see a tweet with Dorion on a plane to Winnipeg. I wonder if he go there to scout Schmidt

Why not try something that could be better?

Are they the best pairing in the nhl? no. So something could actually be better

Because it could backfire. Fix the things that don’t work don’t screw with a pairing in which Sanderson seems extremely comfortable.

okay then run

Chabot - Zub
Chychrun - Brannstrom
Sanderson - Hamonic

again no downfall in having options. Regardless adding Chychrun would be an great move by ottawa. Adding any competent top 4 D at this point would be nice

I'm not sure why Sanderson has to stick with Hamonic, specifically.

I'm not in a rush to separate them, the pairing has been good, but why is it the best D prospect we've had since Karlsson, possibly ever, needs to be tied to Hamonic specifically.

Karlsson spent time with Kuba, Sutter, Carkner, Picard and Campoli his rookie year

Chabot spent time Karlsson, Ceci, Boro, and Claesson

Brannstrom spent time with Gudbranson, Hainsey and Zub in his first 63 NHL games.

These guys aren't selected flowers that will wilt and die if they change partners or play with sub ideal partners. Sanderson will be fine,

Don't mind getting DeMelo back, he's a good enough option as a temporary stop gap. Wouldn't mind Schmidt either. His caphit is more than I'd like to pay, but he'd be fine in a top 4 role as well.

I want Sanderson to be as comfortable as possible during the start of his career. He and Hamonic communicate extremely well. Again why risk screwing this up, give it time until Sanderson has his feet under him, at least another 40 games.

What specifically do those guys add to the roster that would justify expending trade capital?

He has played with loads of different partners in his career already and Hamonic hasn't been outstanding so I don't see any reason he wouldn't be comfortable with a better player? If he had Zub beside him I think it frees up his game even more.

The real problem with changing things up came from DJ not keeping our top line together when they had proven to be effective. Butterfly effect has Norris still playing in that scenario too!! ;)

It took Colorado the better part of 10 years after they drafted Mackinnon to become a juggernaut, same with Tampa after they drafted Stamkos/Hedman. People need to be patient LOL can’t blow it up after a couple losses
Not saying too but we need to get lucky like both Col and TB did in finding guys like Point Kuch,or winning a trade that nets you a Byram
