I truly believe that if we acquire Chychrun, it's because Zub will be gone.

Like some, I have fallen out of favor of Chychrun because of injury concerns. Isn't he missing first 15 games or something this year as well?

Answer is to keep Zub and ride with what we have internally. Make a big time trade when needed and right fit is available.

I too think Joseph likely cap casualty next off-season and Greig takes his spot full-time. I also foresee Thomson full time as top 4 RD either this year or next with us making a deadline deadline for a big boost on D this trade deadline as well.

Make no mistake, we will definitely go for a deep run and add necessary moves at trade deadline if we in firm playoff spot by the time TDL rolls up.
Id love to make a move for Weegar still if Calgary is out of it at the TDL or if he just hadn’t signed an extension there yet

Please Pierre. Please don't have overpaid for Chychrun. We don't need a repeat of the Matt Duchene incident after the summer you had.
If we trade a mid first a third shane bowers level prospect and Andrew Hammond level goalie I’ll be stoked

Do you mean 4OA by mid first? We kept the Tkachuk pick and ended conceding the Byram pick the next year I believe.

Also hoping we dont give up much more than top 5 protected 2023 1st and Jarventi/Sokolov/Ostapchuk for Chychrun. Would rather hang out hates on JBD/Thomson being read mid-season and hope Calgary flames out and get Weegar at the deadline for pennies if he refuses to resign with a sinking ship.

What do you think realistic long term contracts for Zub, Pinto, and Cat are?

I'm a bit unclear as to whether Pinto has 5 or 6 years remaining until he is an UFA. Do you think he would take a Batherson-esque deal that would bring him up to his last RFA year? Pay him a little bit more now to save and make room for Zub, Cat, Sanderson extensions. But hopefully the cap goes up enough by the time he needs extending to give him his big contract.

Many Cup contenders count on guys who look like they couldn't do a push up to defend the front of their net in the playoffs, like,,,,,hmmmm, drawing a blank here. Maybe there were a few in the 1930s.
Do you think it's time to trade Chabot?

You're missing a piece in that trade, closest parallel would be adding a Dman in the final year of their contract before hitting UFA that is perhaps asking for a bit too much to extend, who could that be...

Weekes is as plugged in as they come. So I'm expecting good news before the season starts.
Weekend also tweeted a while ago about Uncle Lou had 4 moves coming, spoiler, he was wrong.

At the time of the trade it was a mid first. We didn’t know we were giving up 4th overall. So you’re ok with giving up 6th overall and jarventie? That’s not much less than we gave for duchene

If zub is saying he’s testing free agency and won’t sign then I will gladly use him to acquire chychrun

Well he could have very well heard that Lou was pushing hard in four particular moves. And they just never happened. One of which could have been Kadri

If Zub is saying he wants to test FA then we should acquire Chychrun and keep Zub for the season.

Turris wanted to sign, we chose to go a different direction based on how much he'd cost to keep around.

Besides, Zub is probably the most valuable piece of you add him to your original proposal where you omitted a Turris equivalent. Of course you'd be ok offering about half market value.

At the time of the trade it was an unknown first. It could have been 31st or 1st or anything in between. And once again, here you are omitting Turris, who had an established value. You're playing both sides, if we couldn't know the first would end up being 4th, then we also couldn't know that Turris would quickly regress from a two way 60 pts top 6 center able to command a 6x6 contract and Duchene would bounce back after 3 years of 60 pts offensive oriented play to become a true #1 center.

Weekes tweeted that on August 10th.

Then this is what happened. You know Lou would hold back once there was a leak.
