I saw Garrioch tweet out your guys lines tonight and saw Harmonic being the 2RD. As a Devils fan, I'm wondering if we're out at the deadline and you guys are a bubble team, what would be the interest in Damon Severson? 50% would be about like 2.2M if I remember his contract right. He could be the best option out there, maybe Klingberg too.

If the Isles don't come out of the gates flying, they might make some changes and if we can acquire Mayfield off them for cheap that'd be dope! He could fit in on the 2nd pairing or 3rd pairing in different roles.

Any chance that Bedard and co. will incentivize some teams to start the tank sooner rather than later this season?

Maybe we'll get a bit of a buyer's market for a Tenny upgrade? Maybe grab a top-4 dman before xmas?

I'm hoping either that, or if any other teams get hit with an injury bug and need a warm body on defense, hopefully they'll be more inclined to take Zaitsev from us for a 7th.

The Hawks and Yotes are both positioned to tank and they'll be moving a lot of salary near the deadline (Kane, Domi, Athanasiou, etc..), we might be able to move Zaitsev to them with a sweetener. I can't imagine a situation where the Yotes take Zaitsev without salary coming back (Chychrun or even Ghostisbhere) and a team like Buffalo that has capspace is looking to improve. The Ducks are looking to get better, but they have space to take Zaitsev and help them for the Bedard Sweepstakes. I'd offer Zaitsev, a 2nd and a 3rd and try to pry Kulikov off the Ducks.

I wouldn't trade Pinto straight up for Chychrun, Pinto is going to be a star in this league. I guess we don't have to worry about PP2 anymore & as I have said before they might outscore PP 1 as is. Giroux is going to be a great addition to this team on & off the ice, so would Brassard IMO.

Mayfield would be great on the 3rd pairing with Holden or Brannstrom, For now I would keep Hamonic with Sanderson he seems like exactly the partner Sanderson needs. And speaking of Sanderson the guy plays with so much poise he seems much further along than most rookie defencemen. I hope Kleven comes further along too. JBD another UND alumni has also taken a big step forward this yr.

Would you rather:

Greig, protected 1st, and Zaitsev for Chychrun.

Or

Thomson, protected 1st, Joseph (Traded in offseason to another team as cap casualty), and Zaitsev for Weegar with extension and like a 2nd or 3rd rounder for Joseph. (Calgary give up something else to add onto our package for Chychrun).

Would like to answer but not clear on the 2nd part. You saying we trade for Weegar then flip him to Yotes?

I think he's suggesting a three way trade where we get Weegar and Flames get Chychrun.

So we give up Thompson and a first with Zaitsev for Weegar, trade Joseph seperately to make cap room for next year, end up with Weegar and a 2nd or 3rd.

I've fallen out of favour with the idea of getting Chycrun at this point. The injury concerns are too big for a contract that is going to cause us some cap trouble next year. Prioritize getting Zub (who's more valuable than Chychrun) and Cat locked up.

Besides, I think the coaching is a bigger issue on defence than some of the actual players.

Seravalli in his 32 predictions today predicts Anna and Olivia will sell the team this year and that the Sens will land Chychrun before the new year. Mentions Ottawa as most interest and also that the Kings are in the mix.

A DeBrincat extension will dictate what we do next, if we can get him on a deal in the same area as Norris, Stü and Tkachuk, it will give us some flexibility. After that, Pinto and Zub are the only question marks remaining.

Personally, I don't see the D as a huge concern, we could be better there, but I see strength down the left side, and some guys that can be placeholders on the right. Any weakness on the D at this point can be overcome by the forwards helping out a little more imo.

I know it might not be a popular view but I’d like the Melnyk sisters to maintain a minority stake in the team. I would like to believe their apparent social conscience would permeate the org even without being majority owners.
