I think this one makes sense and was rumoured last year though. Chychrun is on a cheaper contract and they may want to dump Muzzin/Holl while they can and upgrade their defense

Probably why they havent made a deal yet. He is also probably looking at the teams contract structure moving forward. Pinto, Sanderson and Debrincat need to get paid soon. If they are trading prime assets it needs to be for long term structure.

Our D is so bad that it desperately needs an upgrade. At least those Redden Sens teams were still excellent defensively and could rely on their depth.

Ultimately if you acquire Chychrun and he isn’t the perfect fit you can trade that player and contract for a better fitting D when one becomes available.

Witt was also a bit more of a perfect fit as he was the right style of D.

I think he's the only one in the system that's anywhere near close to big league quality. Makes sense to give him as much time as possible.
