Isn't half their defense injured right now? They were playing multiple forwards on d last game, I think a few of their d are expected to be out to start the season. Seems like they would be more interested in acquiring a d man than shipping one out.

I don't see how they can get under the cap without dealing Kerfoot.

If everyone gets healthy they could move Holl and run a 20 man roster. LTIR will keep them compliant until December when Liljegren returns.

They'll have plenty of room once Murray ends up on LTIR after sneezing too hard...

If everyone gets healthy they could move Holl and run a 20 man roster. LTIR will keep them compliant until December when Liljegren returns.

If Liljegren is going to miss months I don't think they'd move the only other right-handed D on their roster.

Kerfoot would make more sense to move.

The Kings do have a nice depth selection of RD but even if we go that route we are still left with the Zaitsev problem, and that's indeed a pickle of repute.

feels like Ottawa is the frontrunner in this, so much smoke reminds me of all the hype before the Duchene deal

I think folks are getting too hyper focused on Chychrun. Dude is not the solution for us as a second pairing RD.

Would have been done a while ago if Ottawa wanted to do it.

He doesn't fill a true need. Not sure why they give up the farm for him and he will walk in 3 years. Right when this team will be peaking.

First top 3 protected, Brannstrom, Zaitsev plus one of Jarventie/Kleven/Crookshank/Sokolov/Kastelic/Boucher. No soogard, Grieg or Pinto. That's the max.

Why not? Genuinely curious. All I have heard is that he would be a solid fit for us.

I'm ok with Chychrun if the price is lowering, i.e. less than a 1st+Greig as the main value going back and definitely no Pinto. In fact really just the 1st as the main piece, ELCs are just too important and if Greig makes it as a C this team will be utterly stacked down the middle and can make a trade from that position of strength in the future. Chychrun's deal is nice but it's just 3 years, same term as a prime ELC. No reason to go crazy for him, but he would be nice to have.

Max value I would be fine with for Chychrun:

the 2023 or 2024 1st (top 10 protected if 2023, top 3 protected if 2024)
a 2024 2nd (either Ottawa's or Washington's, don't care)
Jarventie or Sokolov
Brannstrom

plus they have to take Zaitsev lol
