It’s pretty obvious that Arizona wants Pinto or Greig from us, and Dorion isn’t budging.

Both those guys are players you win with. If we manage to get him without giving Greig up (Pinto is obviously untouchable) then we should all get Dorion avys honestly lmao

We cannot trade Pinto because of the type of player he is and can be. X-factor player either like Cirelli or possibly O'Rielly. Cannot give him up.

Conversely, with DeBrincat situation still unknown, we also cannot give up on Greig as he could also be critical player we can insert in top 6 during our cap crunch years where players like him could put us over the top (relative to caphit).

I have seen enough good flashes from JBD and Thomson to give them a shot. Especially because their counterparts (Chabot and Sanderson) are/likely legit top pair defenders.

We can also be patient and end up making a blockbuster trade deadline deal similar to TB when they got Miller AND McDonagh for basically what is being rumored for Chychrun now.

LETS GOOOO

Price has soften for Chychrun

close it Dorion

What a beauty add he would be. We would be stanley cup contenders

Holl is more of the same of what we have...no thanks and the leafs need him now
I think the reduction in price bit is a bunch of baloney. Given we've been a cap out (Zaitsev) before cap in (Chychrun) situation all along, this isn't anything new. Seems like a ploy by Dreger to get more eyeballs and clicks. Plus, Arizona have been talking cap dumps for years.

If we were to include one of Pinto or Greig right now the deal would be done. But here we are.

I would bet my house and life savings that we will not move Pinto. It’s not going to happen.
No way I move Pinto in the deal, Greig I'm a little more willing but still pretty hesitant.

1st, Formenton and some combination of our D prospects and Brannstrom are the pieces I'm open to moving. After that I'm more prone to see what we have than to make a move right now.

Why not? Genuinely curious. All I have heard is that he would be a solid fit for us.

Well, he's a natural LD and isn't as strong on his right side. He has had a few pretty major injuries already and has never played a full season. He hasn't moved the needle with Arizona at all, which you'd expect a true franchise or top pairing D to show something. And his contract is only another 3 years til UFA.

Now all that said, I do like the kid. He is definitely a strong #3 defenseman and anchor for a second pair on a team wanting to make noise in the playoffs.

But the thought of sending away 1 (or more) blue chip prospects and a '23 first in a draft that is supposed to be one of the strongest and deepest drafts in well over a decade.....that's one hell of a price for a guy who is not a perfect fit.

Surprised we haven't heard more on Connor Murphy considering the Chicago Fire sale for the tank season.
We try to have Murphy but Zaitsev nix the trade. This is why we are press to trade Brown. Kinda weird Zaitsev don t want to bo to Chicago but agree to go in Arizona

Does LA need a LD? Could you see a 3 team trade?
LA gets JC
Ottawa gets one of LAs RD
Arizona gets pieces from LA and Ottawa (zaitsev! too)

Would have been done a while ago if Ottawa wanted to do it.

He doesn't fill a true need. Not sure why they give up the farm for him and he will walk in 3 years. Right when this team will be peaking.

First top 3 protected, Brannstrom, Zaitsev plus one of Jarventie/Kleven/Crookshank/Sokolov/Kastelic/Boucher. No soogard, Grieg or Pinto. That's the max.
I agree & I wouldn't move Kleven, Kastelic or Boucher either ... the others are fine & I would add Thomson if they wanted him.
Lol thanks!

Currently sitting in scrubs, waiting to be called into the OR.
Congrats --- now get in there & do your part ....

Are there any defenceman other than Chychrun that might be available?
Pierre has been sitting on his hands trying to get a defensemen for years now. Its tough to find a good defensemen in Sept when a new season about to start.

I would say there are minimal defensemen available at this point as teams are all in love with their rosters

So what do we think the "buzz" could be?

Chychrun trade? Or a Formenton or Zub signing?
