Could be either way, depending on the player acquired.

Get a really good defensive defenseman who is virtually error-free in the defensive zone...that guy would make an excellent partner for Chabot.

Get a good two-way guy who is a calming influence and complements his partner well, and you have the perfect partner for Sanderson.

Zub can play well with either Chabot or Sanderson. (And we really need to get him signed!)

Top 4D is the hardest position to fill and the biggest need on this team. They are overpaid and cost a fortune to acquire.

Dorion has pulled some rabbits out of his hat this year and this will be the toughest one to do this year.

After a heater off-season so far Dorion he is going to either have to overpay or find a good stop gap.This will be tough for him.

Chychrun is probably the best, Weegar is going want to get paid and probably not as good as the money he will command and Panthers may want a good asset or two.

UFA class is always a overpayment retirement money contracts that never age well.

I’d rather not move Formenton, I wonder if they would take Brown with retention instead.

I think Brown would be the better player for them to target anyways, would do well in Pittsburgh. Would probably be something like Brown + JBD/Thomson + 2023 2nd. Though with Malkin moving on idk if Pittsburgh will really be needing to trade Marino any more, but they may go big and try to land someone like Gaudreau.

I wonder if the Penguins might think about a rebuild if Malkin is gone. Perhaps prospects and picks might be attractive to them (and no, not the 2023 1st!).

Although I really want to target a pure defensive defenseman. We don't really nee dmore offense from the back end. Just a guy who can clear the defensive zone reasonably well and stop high danger scoring chances around our net.
