I think it’s a playoff team but I’m not sure we’re going to go from the bottom third of the league to the cup in one year. None of our key players have any playoff experience whatsoever.
Agreed except I don't think Giroux is going to be quite that shortsighted. Buying into a reasonable window in exchange for never having to move again is likely a fair compromise to him and his family. The point is that the team is moving very quickly in the right direction and you could make the case that we give him as good a shot as anyone to chase a cup in his final three/four years.

Also, I wont go as far as saying that experience is overrated but I would say if there is a group of young players that won't be phased and can overcome inexperience with raw talent, it's these guys, led by Brady. The opportunity to do his part as the vet surrounded by youthful exuberance could very well be the kicker.

I think it's a really nice situation. Incredible how quickly things can change.

I am just starting to wonder on Chychrun. It was always speculated that the Coyotes were going to aks for a high price to acquire him, as is their right. But no one has ponied up yet. Yes I know he got hurt just before the trade deadline, but still nothing has happened.

I wonder if they are not getting the price they want and may have to accept a little less. It seems last week at the draft would have been the time to maximize his value for a team looking to build for the future.

Perhaps the Sens can get him without giving up Greig, Pinto or an unprotected 2023 1st.

Just speculating.

I want top 4 d more than giroux but whatever f***
If they do get Giroux, I can't imagine they call it a day with a glaring hole on defense (and one that Dorion even acknowledged at the end of the season). If they traded for DeBrincat, traded for Talbot, signed Giroux, there's no chance they stop there without bringing in a defenseman.

I actually think Weegar is a better player (and he's also a better fit on the Sens).
As a friendly Florida fan, I kind of wonder if a theee way is possible. Florida wants JC due to hometown and playing on the side we need, Ottawa wants Weegar for the same reason.
