I’ve heard Keumper was looking for something similar to Grubhauer 5.9 x 6. Not worth it IMO.
Ya GTFO if that's what he wants. We should've went after Husso if we wanted a goalie. If we move on from Murray and are looking for a goalie we should just try to get Reimer for one year out of San Jose and figure out the long term goalie situation next year.

I’ve always been high on Raanta even though he has been injury prone. It would be cool to grab him via a trade or next year in free agency if he makes it there.
Me too but dont think Carolina will trade him this season.

I really don't know him well but Cal Peterson seems like a target that makes some sense IMO (10-team NTC aside).

Owed 12m over the next 3 seasons, 27yrs old. Struggled last season.

I could see Blackwood as well. 4.125m this season and then an RFA. Pretty sure his QO would be 2.8, not 4.125.

This is going to be a Dorion Special.

10 pieces and LTIR and retention going back and forth.

"Uh oh" would be going into next season with Forsberg-Gustavsson as our goaltending duo.
Over the last two seasons, they've been pretty solid, certainly far better than Murray.

Both guys are ~.920 sv% at 5v5 which isn't elite but isn't bad at all (for reference, Matt Murray is .908, Grubauer is .905, and Kuemper is .923. Elvis and Bobrovsky are .917, Quick, Binnington and Goergiev are .915. An elite guy like Vasi was .929)

We could do far worse with those two, and they had to play behind our inconsistent D.

On the Leafs board they think they're getting Formenton and Zub as sweeteners to take Murray at 50% retained.
Formenton honestly wouldn’t surprise me with a 25% retained Murray. I think they may view him as expandable with Joseph+other prospects and UFA’s in the mix. It’s awful value, but Dorion seems more into pragmatism than getting max value. Maybe they think the 2+ mil he’s about to get are better off spent elsewhere.

I don't see that as at all realistic. 50% retained would be we're saving a whole 2.5 mil vs a buyout, but the buyout eases the burden by spreading the cost across 4 years, To us, I can't see it being worth much more than a 2nd to send him there with 50% retained, if that.

If Dorion attaches Formenton to Matt Murray he's gonna go from hero to zero. That is atrocious asset management.

Damn.

Then why get another goalie?
Honestly we probably shouldn't unless he's moving Gus in a package for something else. I'm very against paying goalies big money but mainly I just don't see a goalie in this market worth giving money and term to. I know it's a gamble to go with what we got but our sample size of them being decent isn't exactly tiny. I'd try to make our defense better and roll with what we have in net over risking another goalie overpayment debacle.

Gustavsson is not ~.920 sv% at 5.5. He's at .910 and he was well below that last season. Murray took a while to get settled, but was .912 last season.

I put a lot more stock in Gustavsson's 18 games last year, in which he was our worst goalie, than in the 8 the year prior. I also don't see much merit in evaluating the first 10ish games of Murray's stint with us. Team was a mess.

Gustavsson has zero track record at the NHL level as a legit NHL goalie. Counting on him is a huge, huge gamble in a season where we appear to be set on taking a big step forward. What if Forsberg takes a step backwards? We're screwed.

Kerfoot and Holl make sense coming back from the Leafs but both have NTC. Doubt they waive to come here

Care to try again?

He definitely struggled last year, but I think the talent is there, and we're using him as a backup, so I'm not as concerned.

Tomorrow is Monday after the draft. I assume a lot of trades are going to be announced.
Ya I think we will see action tomorrow and/or Tuesday as teams shore up their positions for free agency then after that period I'm sure there will be more action.
