Even Burns at 50% retained is gonna be rough. He is 37 and signed 3 more years.

4Million for a 40 year old Burns is alott
Well, we don't likely care about his cap hit, and his real salary averages to around 4.3 over the next 3 years thx to his bonus being paid already. at 50% retained I'd be all over Burns, even at 40 he's likely giving good value for 2-2.5 mil in actual salary.

The fact that G is still on the table even after getting DeBrincat, I think, is what's especially surprising. I'd figured the ship had sailed once we went in on Brink.

Thank the Leafs for eating $4.7M !

Sens have $4.7 or so in dead money against the cap (Murray, White, Ryan, Phaneuf). This is the last year of Phaneuf, and before last for Bobby, but we need to avoid adding to that total. It’s adding up. That’s almost the money we need for a top 4D right there.

I dunno. I find Chychurn's injury history concerning. And I don't feel paying big time assets for Weeger is prudent when he's 1 year away from UFA. If Marino proves unattainable I'd rather the Sens bring in Anton Stralman for 1 year (soon to be 36 but played 21min per game with ARZ last year) and see what we've got in Lassi and JBD. Extending Zub should be a priority, and who knows, Cernak is a UFA next year...

I can’t get a read on who you guys would rather dump, Zaitsev or Del Zotto?
Zaitsev IMHO would be the best to dump.

Zaitsev has 2 years of term left at $4.5 AAV.

MDZ has 1 year of term left at $2.0 m AAV.

Both are probably below average 3rd pair guys at this stage of their careers.

Zaitsev is a RD though, but also has a 10 team (M-NTC) no trade list.

Having said all of this, the guy who initially suggested MDZ was wanting to dump both Zaitsev and MDZ I think to the Yotes. I could be wrong about this assumption.

Strahlman is completely done. Zaitsev is better.

Or 6'8" Myers?
That is possible.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings showing you what you wrote?
Man how clueless and sad are you ? You showed me past posts of mine saying Murray is awful and his contract is terrible. I stand by those posts. You at no point hurt my feelings.

The post I made was if I should be happy about the potential deal or upset about the potential deal. The deal happened and I'm perfectly fine with it. I even @ you and said Pierre did good.

Still think Dumba at 1 year $6 million is a perfect fit. Won’t cost a ton and doesn’t hamstring the budget going forward.

Ott: Dumba
Minn: JBD, Sokolov, Gus

Salary cap hell and not many teams can fit $6 million under their cap without trading salary back

If I told you about the Murray and Debrincat trades a week ago you’d say the same thing

Something to watch for tomorrow.

Signing bonuses.

Is the aversion due to budget constraints or an artifact of the Heatley v Melnyk fiasco?

Would love to see Senators use this tool like everyone else.

A lot to give up for 1 year of Dumba no ? I'm not sure he'd re up with us as I think he'll want to test FA and some GM will 7 year insane money him. I do think Dumba would be a nice fit I think we are looking for stability in that position not a 1 year stop gap.

I think we’re all in for this season and the playoffs and some playoff noise, add Dumba to this lineup and sort out how to get rid of Zaitsev a fan Del-Zaitsev and this is a playoff team and a dangerous one

Ottawa already has 8 D so we need to make some type of move to sort it out

They can re-sign Dumba and make it work cap wise or move him at the deadline retained for a massive haul.

Yeah, Minnesota has a full roster right now and a bit still under the cap (~1.5m). Handful of prospects at the AHL level who are ready for NHL spot duty at least, if not full time. They can probably move Tyson Jost and possibly Kulikov is they need to clear space, but they definitely won't be clearing space for a player that is better than Dumba.
