Weegar is absolute top of wish list for this team.
So the 3 D running through the rumour mill.
Chykrun - high acquisition cost, 3 years left, could include dump in package.
Weeger - Acquisition is probably roster player + D prospect who can play this year (think Forms/Brown retained + 1 of the 3 D), 1 year left
Marino - Pitt is in go mode still so acquisition would be similar to Weeger +, 5 years left.
The only one for sure on the market is Chykrun.
I am good with any of the 3.

Team isn’t competitive unless this hole gets filled.

As for Chych - he’s a good player. You get the good player and worry about the intricacies later.
I guess? Seems like a log jam on the left side, especially with Zaitsev apparently going.
That leaves the right side with Zub, Hamonic, Thomson and Bernard-Docker?

Even Burns at 50% retained is gonna be rough. He is 37 and signed 3 more years.
4Million for a 40 year old Burns is alott
1 year to UFA. 700K in cap space. I can’t believe they haven’t bought out Hornqvist yet, if they do I doubt Weeger moves.

Idk, Burns has a very restrictive NTC, 3 teams trade list, unless Karlsson is telling him how great Ottawa is, I don't think he's putting us in his top 3 destinations. But who knows, maybe he likes the idea of being close(er) to family,
Otherwise, I think he'd be a good option. Certainly not what he used to be but can play in your top 4 and his actual dollars is very reasonable (particularly with his bonus paid this year). I'd certainly kick the tires on that one.
