There is still Hamonic and Del Zotto. So much money being flushed down the toilet.
Why is everyone so down on Hamonic? He played pretty well in a fairly short sample size and only has a year left at $3.25M. Sure, MDZ wasn't a fit and that money could be allocated elsewhere but it's kinda weird to see those 2 names together. Don't seem to belong in the same sentence.

I agree. I like Hamonic. If he's not relied on too much, he brings veteran depth that can still play.

I cannot believe what I am reading and what is going on. This is a dream come true (sucks it has come to this level of fantasy when it should be standard GM'ing practice but I'll freaking take it).

I can't believe we are going to solve our offense and defense in a single offseason. With actual elite talent... Giroux is going to be possibly 2nd or even 3rd best grab.... Wow.

I made this prediction a few weeks back and it's actually coming true.

If we butcher this offseason, bro, I am done. It's a crucial off-season, I have been saying it for 2 years. I have claimed 2 things with certainty: (1) that 2020 was the most crucial draft for future success and we absolutely needed to hit a homerun in the first round, and (2) this offseason is crucial for building a winning culture and elevating our players to the next level. Literally this offseason. We must add a mentor or skilled guy of Giroux's capability. It's a must.

I won't lie, I am not overly optimistic on the D acquisition, but if Brown is being moved too, then we absolutely must acquire another middle 6 F(and I think that's coming with White's buyout).

I can live with:

Chabot-Hamonic
Sanderson-Zub
Holden-Brannstrom

At minimum, we need someone of Giroux's ability. I think Garland is like bare minimum. If not, I am done until Dorion is done.

This is insane. Have not been this excited in forever. We deserve this Sens nation. Dorion deserves it too.

I would buy out Murray instead of seeing him go to TO
He could be back to form next season and I don't want to watch the Leafs beat us in the PO

Makes me wonder if management got permission to spend and build an attractive team so that it ups the price of the team. Add in Lebreton and you could make a pretty penny selling.
I mean it looks like we are trying everything to move Murray and Zaitsev next. budget probably increased but Dorion is also trying to fix his mistakes to spend that same cap

Haven't really followed Klingberg that much since he was being hyped as the next Karlsson in his rookie season. I see he puts up decent offensive numbers, but is he really worth as much as he's going to demand as a UFA?

I think the media talking heads are going to link us to everything for clicks right now because we're starved for good news and there's no way to refute it.

There's no way we were in on a guy like DeAngelo, that tipped me off.

Agreed. Would've been really surprising to see Ottawa go after DeAngelo.

If you think prominent media personalities are drumming up clicks from Ottawa with unsourced rumours...I think I have about 3 bridges for sale

Going after DeAngelo and apparently Klingberg makes me think the rumours of our interest in Barrie was legitimate.

Wonder if he might be coming back in a Brown trade. Probably Puljujarvi too.

If we acquire a top 4 defenseman, Hamonic will be our 6th defenseman behind said D, Chabot, Zub, Sanderson and Holden.

Zaitsev and MDZ are both capable of playing limited 3rd pairing minutes, so trading them away at the cost of packaging assets with them but keeping Hamonic and his 3.25M deal is stupid.

Was there an actual rumor for Barrie? I know I threw the name out there last week, but I wasn't aware of an actual rumor.

I get what you're saying but Hamonic, in his short time here, has played much better than Zaitsev. It's not really close IMO.

MDZ is a LD so it's a different comparison but I'd still take Hamonic over him any day of the week.

Good teams have Hamonic-type players on their 3rd pairing at $3M. They don't have Zaitsev-types making $4.75M in their lineup. Period. Getting out from under Z's deal is important. To me it's more important than moving Murray who has demonstrated that he could be a good player. He might recoup value. Zaitsev just needs to go ASAP.

Brannstrom is still on this team and often showed down the stretch last season he could play top-4 minutes and succeed. Why does he constantly get the shaft in these scenarios?
