Any college “free wallets” the Sens could be looking at?

We were all over those under Murray but it seems to have dried up. Was the last one Verroneau?

I’d imagine a forward would see Gambrell, Kelly and Watson in the lineup, combined with the relatively sparse prospect pool and think they’d have a decent path to the bigs.

All the free wallets these days want to sign in New York or other O6 teams. The idea of jumping onto a team ina smaller market that's on the rise doesn't have the appeal it used to.

Was there’s anything more overhyped in this markets then the Sens College free agent run under Murray - like every single player was the next great thing and except Jesse Winchester they all sucked despite’s the the headlines were like “Sens sign goalie of the future”

We were apparently close on Chris Tanev and Tyler Bozak which would both have been great.

Unfortunately the guys we closed weren’t as good.

Winchester would have been useful without the injuries.

Interesting story I was told. Nothing earth shattering but apparently the Chychrun’s thought they were headed to Philly, but a bigger deal fell apart killing the deal. AZ wouldn’t take back a cent.

So if you look over to Philly Fletcher got fired for among other things his mishandling of the deadline and botching a Chychrun deal. They didn’t get Chychrun and failed to move TVR.

Try to get Cat signed to a reasonable contract by the draft (if new owners are in place), if that doesn't come to fruition move him for some assets and try going for Saros. Then try for a cheaper middle-six option via UFA.

Regardless if we'll have the assets for Saros or not, that 8 mil might be better off spent on goaltending and a good 2nd/really good 3rd liner.

I see lucic is a free agent this off-season. I would definitely look at him for fourth line LW. A true heavy weight that can play decently against weaker match ups. The boys would likely love having a cup winner around

I figure he'll price himself out of what we're willing to pay, he'll probably want a deal similar to Reaves

+ defense.

If we are moving on from DeBrincat, we will 100% need to dedicate more money into defense and goaltending as that will and should be our bread and butter; similar to many elite teams in the East.

Stutzle-Tkachuk-Norris-Giroux-Batherson-Greig-Pinto is good enough top 7, especially with experience.

Chabot-Sanderson-Chychrun-Zub-Gudas/Mayfield + Saros/Demko/Gibson is a complementary powerhouse backline.

What’s reaves making?

I don’t know how much I would give him honestly have to take a closer look

Another 2-3.5 mill dollar defender in the mold of Gudas.

Giordano signed for 800k for 2 years; guy is still fully capable top 4. We are building an elite core, we will be attractive to defenders wanting to play on competitive team and not have to take too significant of a paycut. We might be one of the few teams to offer that.

Moreover, I am keeping a close eye on Chabot. If Sanderson becomes the defacto number 1, and Chabot plays like he has this year, his production can easily be replaced by a defender half his salary + allocating the other for extensions for Sanderson+Chychrun.

The cap is going up and we have almost every young part of the core locked in. We are in great position moving forward.

If the Senators wanted to trade Kleven they could have included him in the Chychrun deal and retained a draft pick.

Most likely outcome is that they will promise him and Craig Oster that Brannstrom will be dumped this summer to clear the path for him.

Both guys can play both sides, and idk that Kleven will be ready this year so I doubt they'd promise to move Brannstrom this summer. At best I could see them saying they'd make room for him when he's ready, but you don't go making promises to move roster guys out to your prospect whose yet to prove himself at all. This isn't a Sanderson, hell, JBD arguably had a better college career.

Let's be real here, in no circumstance should the team be making trades this summer with the idea of "clearing a path" for Tyler Kleven. And if that's what he's asking, he and his agent need a reality check.

He's a good prospect. He seems to have tools and potential. But he's far, far from a sure thing.

just realized a Swayman offersheet makes a ton of sense.

If you sign him in the 3's that is only a second round pick in compensation. Boston can't afford that with their cap situation. Only question is, does Pierre have the balls to do it?

Need to own your own pick for an offer sheet, so can’t happen.

I would love Looch but I think he will cost more than what he is worth to us.
