My inner conspiracy theorist is wondering if the bids for the sale of the team being pushed back to Monday, March 6 has anything to do with the TDL being Friday, March 3?
If PD completely craps the bed on TDL and makes some really dumb moves, maybe bids are slightly less. Lol.

True. That's a large & important decision they need to make. There was some info out there that they'd wait until past the TDL to make the decision on Debrincat, but I found that idea kind of interesting if not odd.
I'd wager he wouldn't sign what was offered and there's truth to Dorion saying new ownership can have their run at him.

Unfortunately, that doesn't give me confidence that it's going to come a penny below market value and Cat wants full value as the priority.

That's a possibility. Money is often important in this kind of situation, but I have no idea (along with everyone else I suspect) what Debrincat wants. If this situation is pushed out past the TDL, the new owners are going to have to make some significant decisions rather quickly because I think there's s deadline for Qualifying Offers.

It seems clear they have no intention of dealing him at the deadline, so it's heading towards the QO situation.

This doesn't make any sense whatsoever. What does one have to do with the other?

I really doubt they get a prospect like Mateychuk or Sillinger from Columbus. Just like they won't get Greig or Pinto from Ottawa.

Could they get LA's 1st (which will land somewhere between 20-25), a 2nd and a couple prospects like Foudy/Tarasov?

Yeah probably. But they probably could have gotten a similar, if not better, package last trade deadline. Or last summer. So all this waiting and holding him out and then putting him back in... I don't know if it'll benefit them very much.

They are trading a 24YR old defenseman with 28 points in 36 games on a terrible Yotes team that is signed for two more years at a steal of a cap hit.

I don't get why you think a non-elite prospect like Matveychuk or Sillinger should be off the table for a player like that.

For the record I believe it's been established that Columbus actually had a deal worked out for Chychrun at the draft for the 12th OVR pick (which was used to take Matveychuk) + more, but it ended up not happening.

Chychrun will have a 10 team NTC starting July 1st.

The draft is June 28.

As per Dregger this AM he said the ask from Arizona was/is 2 1sts and one of Grieg or Sogaard.
So a 10-15 pick, a 15-20 pick, and one of our top 2 prospects.

It will be fascinating to see if they end up with half that value.

So they may be willing to have Sogaard be the main prospect coming back, but asking for two 1sts on top of him is unreasonable considering how high our 2023 1st is.

I could understand asking a contender for two 1sts if their 2023 pick is guaranteed to be late and their 2024 1st is also expected to be late, but that's not the case with us at all.

Would much rather do JBD for Parayko then 2- 1st and grieg for chychrun!

Wonder if we'd be able to do something around JBD 2nd and a 3rd for parayko with 10% retension

Seems like we had something very close as well.

Zero interest on my part. We need a RHD, and his cap hit doesn't fit

That's before getting into why the flyers would want to move him in the first place
Yeah he doesnt make sense for us but this may mean another team is off the Chychrun hunt

Who would you go after to replace him?
I think they need a burner that can score but is hard to play against. I like Debrincat and ideally they keep him but if he doesnt sign by friday the assets value plumets. He is essentially a guaranteed UFA. No person in the right mind doesnt sign a one year 9 million dollar deal.

How the heck do we justify moving Sogaard at this point, maybe if we hadn't traded off Gus we could do that but not now.

Chychrun is good, but not ideal for us, we need to look elsewhere unless the ask drops significantly.

Our window is Brady,s 5 remaining years on his deal..I get what you are saying, but we also have to start making a push soon
No the Window is Stutzles 8 years. Do you think this is actually the year to make a push? Tampa, Boston and Toronto are going all in. They have no futures left either. People dont want to hear it but going for it now could blow the teams real opportunity which is in 2 years or so.

Absolutely no way in any situation they can trade Sogaard. They are tied to him the moment they traded Gus. You are correct.

I don’t think anyone is advocating paying a steep price for a rental but getting a D with team control makes sense if the cost is right. I’d also be fine moving Thomson for a rental RD we might want to test drive.

I agree. Only way I could see it is if Vejmelka were coming back with Chychrun.
