I can say with absolute certainty I do not envy Bruce Garrioch. I can also say from experience professional players feel the same way. How strong can his grasp on the sport be when he's never competed in anything in his life that's involved in athletics. That on top of how terrible he is on camera and his limited vocabulary. Then you look at someone like Mendes. Well spoken, honest, compassionat and analytical. Terrific on camera etc. It's pretty clear who should be reporting on this team and on television.

Ian doesn't have to buy bow ties.... he has a job that he can do from anywhere.

Poor Bruce has a rigourous workout schedule to keep his TV body firm.

Who won the Heatley trade? (to San Jose)
Who won the Spezza trade? (to Dallas)
Who won the Stone trade? (to Vegas)
Who won the Hoffman trade? (to San Jose)
Who won the Turris trade? (acquiring him)
Who won the Duchene trade? (to Columbus)
Who won the Pageau trade? (to NYI)

Those are just from our team.
Pageau trade was the Sens. They are quite happy with Grieg and Kleven.
Duchene trade, acquiring him, Colorado won
Brassard Trade, acquiring him, NYR won
DBC trade, acquiring him, Chicago won
Karlsson trade, to SJ, Ottawa won
Mezaros trade, to TBay, Ottawa won
Turris trade, to Nashville, Colorado/Ottawa won
Dzingel trade to Columbus, Ottawa won (despite botching the Duclair + 2nd + 2nd return)

It's as even as it gets with respect to winning/losing a trade when giving up the best player.

A few flaws here.

The Hoffman trade doesn't count. Let's be fair.

The turris trade is funny, because he was involved in the Duchene trade, where we got the best player but lost that trade.

I'd also say we won the pageau trade. Pageau is a third liner and we got a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. To get that for a guy who hit 40 points twice in 8 years is a win.

So it's starting to look a lot closer to 50/50 with the examples I named earlier and the corrections I applied now.

Point is, it's not like an 80/20 or 90/10 that you suggest. Probably a lot closer to 40-60.

Looks like PLD is more interested in going to LA vs MTL now. If Montreal didn’t drag their feet and just traded for him this wouldn’t be a issue.

Could be a lesson to Detroit with Debrincat

Think MTL was just comfortable knowing he’d be theirs regardless next summer. Glad to see teams become more aggressive, always hated when it was a foregone conclusion that a player only wanted to go to one spot

Just read an article in the Score with predicted destinations for UFAs.

They had us signing Bunting for 5 years and 28M. I hope not.

And Jarry for 4 years at 21M. That works for me.

I will say though that it's just refreshing being relevant again

I am all aboard the bunting signing 5x5 ain’t bad he fills a hole in the top 6 , plays hard , some discipline issues but will be a good bet to get you 20-25 goals 50+ pts .

It’s really not a big deal as a 4th or 5th round pick isn’t exactly a prime piece, but it just makes no sense to trade for Gauthier, just take whatever future piece you can get back.

He is what he is. Anyone who watches him should know there isn’t a place in the lineup for him.

He’s big, he can skate, and he’s a 1st round pick. That’s it. It’s not a reclamation project. It would have been a reclamation project of a reclamation project.

So is that a yes. You are going to have to stand behind your recommendations far into the future .. at a risk of being outed.

If bunting openly starts following a bunch of homo/trans phobe , racist accounts I will be the first person to call him out for sure.

Part of hockey culture is most of these athletes lack education and empathy and I guess that applies some fans to like you

For every good thing Dorion does, he does something so dumb. Why are we taking a guy back for Motte? Why not a 6th round pick?

Now look what we have. f*** all.

I would imagine no one really wanted Motte, but come on.

Agreed. Wouldnt mind any of them back as organizational depth but none of them should be considered more than that - guys who can maybe play a game or two, but are mostly there to step up in the AHL in case of injury/call-ups.
Yes, exactly that. You will start in the AHL come heck or high water and you might see some games (hopefully not). Same applies for Parker Kelly, whether or not he has a 1 way imo.
