Red Wing fan here. Instead of the 9th or 17th this year. Would Boston's 1st that Detroit got in the Bertuzzi trade maybe work instead?

Surprised the Bruins couldn't get the Hawks to take on Reilly/Forbort if they were giving them Hall for free.

Hawks have a ridiculous amount of cap space. Might as well use it.

Taylor Hall would have been perfect for our second line LW spot.

Maybe Boston didn’t wanna keep him in the division and help a surging ottawa team?

Taylor hall used his trade protection to avoid coming to ottawa and play on the loser that is Chicago ?

If dorion didn’t even explore this option that would have been disappointing

I wonder what it would take to get Hall.

Chicago likely keeps him to play with Bedard

Hall wouldn't waive to come here from Boston.

Maybe now he'd re-consider if he doesn't want to play on yet another bottom feeder and there are no other takers.

His trade protection list would have been made before this past season started, where the Hawks finished right next to the Sens

No point in exploring it, Sens would have been told to kick rocks by Hall

Hall would be a great fill in, in the meantime

6 million can be much better spent than on Taylor Hall. He has tunnel vision. He doesn't make those around him better.

I’d much rather Hall at 2 x 6M than Debrincat at 8 x 8M+.
Not me. Debrincat is a much better player. But I'd rather bring in someone other than Hall unless Chicago eats a ton of that money.

Barbashev is going to be closer to 7 than 3.5 I think.

It’s not arguable at all, he’s not even close.
The only guy that is more skilled is Stu, and we all know changing environments has significant impacts on play quality. He would be twice the player for us next year.

Is DeBrincat off to the Red Wings?

On the heels of their franchise sale getting settled, there’s still plenty up in the air in Ottawa, particularly regarding the trade talks involving star forward Alex DeBrincat.

Discussing DeBrincat’s potential landing spot on the 32 Thoughts podcast, Friedman and Marek pinpointed the Detroit Red Wings as an option for the 25-year-old Farmington Hills, Mich., native — but also noted that Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman’s negotiating style could be an obstacle to a deal with Detroit getting done.

“I think I said at the beginning, when we first talked about it, that I was going with Detroit until I was proven wrong,” Friedman said of DeBrincat’s future. “I think there’s a couple of things here. No. 1, I’ve heard that Steve Yzerman is not crazy about term. Now, he did it for (Dylan) Larkin — (he's) a centre, he’s an original Red Wings draft pick, that might be a little bit different. … The other thing is, I was talking to someone about the way Yzerman does deals. He’ll grind you and he’ll grind you and he’ll grind you — he’s a grinder. But he gets to a point where he just says, ‘Stop. That’s it. No matter what you do to me, I’m not going any further.’

“When I was listening to that, I was saying, ‘Is that going to be a match? Is that going to be enough for Ottawa? Is that going to be a deal that Ottawa wants to do?’ Another manager told me, you get to that point with Yzerman where he just says, ‘I’ve had enough — you’re either doing the deal or you’re not.’ That puts you in a position where you have to decide.”

There’s no question DeBrincat would be a significant add for the young Red Wings, the Senators winger having twice topped 40 goals through his first six NHL seasons. But for Ottawa, the goal will be to get as much as possible for the restricted free agent, who they gave up a trio of picks to acquire a year ago, when they had high hopes for a long-term deal down the line.

I see that obviously not everyone agrees but I'd love Wilson if the contract makes sense. Worse case scenario he's an excellent 3rd liner who fits the mold of this team and can play up and down the lineup if need be.

With Tkachuk, Wilson, Batherson, Greig, Kastelic, Kleven all throwing the body around it would make us very hard to play against. Everybody plays with an edge when you have two of the toughest guys in the league on your roster. Especially two guys who can play. Cup winner as well.
