PLD has been riding the wave of 1 playoff series against a soft Leafs team and his value hasn't decreased since then. Dude is a 60 point center with consistency issues that has already asked out of 2 markets already before he was 25 years old.

We will get less for Debrincat because GMs have been overvaluing PLD and his size or his potential for the last couple of years.

Dubois is a great 2C… when he wants to be. I think Mtl would be such a toxic relationship, it’s kinda too bad we don’t get to see that play out. Hopefully this goes through and pushes up the market for Debrincat.

Don’t think it has much to do with the market for each other.

Teams looking at Dubois aren’t looking at DBC, likewise with teams looking at DBC.

Gotta be honest. Dubois is a great player but having watched a fair bit of Winnipeg he is a bit infuriating as a player. I am a little surprised how much he is rumored to be getting back in terms of trade value but also contract wise. I understand the rationale behind it but I still struggle with paying premium assets and premium dollars for a player with that much inconsistency.

If you’re 6’4, 220, and play, or have the ability to play, a style of game that is viewed as hard nosed skill, you’re going to be extremely sought after. Even with all the baggage.

Guys like DBC, who doesn’t carry any of the baggage, and has produced better, are not viewed as highly league wide, for better or worse.

PLD is a bit of a unicorn when he’s on. Guys that size that can skate, shoot, pass and and ply that style of game are tough to find. Teams are going to trip over themselves finding that kind of guy, to their own detriment much of the time.

Brannstrom is better. He struggles against heavy hitting big teams that are also hyper skilled. But in his role, he's actually excellent in generating offense and suppressing quality chances. Durzi is flat out awful defensively

Yup. And because they're looking for that combo they tend to see it everywhere. Including in players who are nowhere near what Dubois can be at his best. Hopium.
