Not sure. I'd like to have a player like him. We seem to have enough LHD and we have the KTrain tracking on schedule.

Sens moved Chychrun around a lot when he got here but I don't think we really established any pairings and who would play on their off side and who could play best with out a drop off in efficacy. Adding Deslauriers could block Kleven and it could mean 5/6 starters are LHD. I am not sure we can answer how effectively that would work. We are almost there now anyway if Kleven and Brannstrom belong over JBD

Nick Deslauriers came up as a D in the Q and his first couple years in the AHL then switching to LW. :/

We should be looking at him regardless. He's exactly the type of player we need and his contract is very palatable.

I know the Deslaurier part was off-target, but we do need to figure out who is playing with whom for our 2 top pairs. We have four good pieces but ultimately what we want is two good top 2 pairings. Chychrun was played on both sides and with different partners before injuries and the end of the season happened.

I dunno I kinda wanted him to go to MTL and f*** up their cap structure by signing a $9M x8 years, the same way Tavares messed up the leafs.

Yeah it's definitely a double edged sword. His diva behaviour also could throw a wrench into their plans.

A just turned 25 Dubois on a Habs team lacking talent is a lot different than a 28 year old Tavares on a team top heavy on cap space spent on forwards.

You could argue that at the time Tavares was far more talented and impactful than PLD right now

Now Tavares fell off a cliff but to me I don’t see the allure with Dubois.

It's not "you could argue"... it's "Tavares was far more talented & impactful & you couldn't possibly argue otherwise". Tavares is the better player even now (although not by much & likely not for much longer).

Dubois is a fine player but not someone I'd get too excited about as a core player. He's too inconsistent, too high maintenance... anything over $7.5m for him is too rich for my blood.
