Friedman saying that the teams on his list are:

Detroit
Florida
Vegas
Dallas
Nashville
It probably wouldn't work but I wonder if Vegas would be willing to trade Mark Stone back to Ottawa for DeBrincat.

Vegas has shown a willingness to move nearly every roster player in the past and tends to make big moves. With Stone's injuries he hasn't played a ton of games the last few seasons and with his age maybe Vegas might be more open to moving his contract to offset the risk of him not playing or declining in play. Particularly if Vegas does win the cup, maybe they are more open to it.

It seems unlikely but who knows.

That's what Josh Anderson got coming off of a 4P/26GP season.

Teams overpay tremendously for toughness, and Tom Wilson is as tough as it gets.

He'll probably get 7M+ on a long-term deal from some team. Should stay clear if we're smart.
About to be on the wrong side of 30, so I agree. Can't be giving him the deal it'll take imo.

Shit's gonna get real when we miss the playoffs by 5 points.
2 pt improvement. Can't have it both ways. Keep him. Overpay for a 2LW and screw the rest of the lineup or Trade him and hopefully the sum of the parts ends up better. If the right players are targeted and signed .. very good chance of that happening.

Korpisalo headed to UFA. Goalie market looks pretty decent for July 1st.

Didn't the Sens have interest in him in the past?

He's not someone I'm particularly interested in. Far too inconsistent.

With him you never know entering the season whether you're going to get a legit #1 or a guy who can't stop a beach ball.

I don't see Sabourin making the jump next season, plus he isn't currently under contract. I think Sokolov is on the team for sure as long as he has a good summer. He is waiver eligible and the Sens won't risk losing him if he takes a good step forward this offseason.

It would be pretty wild if the Sens got both Lucic and Reaves. They likely target at least one though. Lucic did have a solid WC and will likely come cheap on a one year deal. Reaves might want more than one year.

I guess it is possible that the Sens somehow sign both. It might depend on how they fill DeBrincat's role and what the 3rd line looks like to end up signing both Lucic and Reaves. A Lucic-Kastelic-Reaves could actually be an effective 4th line. It would be very strong along the boards and could probably get a good cycle game going. It might be effective at pinning the opposition in their zone and maintaining possession while we get a line change. That could result in an increase in even strength goals.
While I would like to beef up the 4th line, I suspect that we won't sign any of Lucic, Reaves, Sabourin or Perry for next season.

I don't have a good feeling about this Debrincat situation and Dorion's capability to recover from it.

I get that sentiment for sure. Have to see how it plays out. DeBrincat isn't making it easy on Dorion by not being agreeable to negotiate a new deal ahead of the draft or at least get into negotiating a deal. Saying you want to stay is "Talk is cheap" .. You want to stay .. negotiate a deal to do that.

If you move Debrincat, you need to bring back a top-6 winger from free agency
UFA Options include: Tarasenko, Bertuzzi, Killorn, Zucker, Bunting, Tatar
RFA Options include: Terry, Meier, Sprong, Bratt, Villardi

DBC & Formenton to Blues for Pavel Buchnevich & Jake Neighbours. Blues do this as they get the best player in the deal with DBC. Also they add Formenton a good penalty killer and a potential 20 goal scorer. The Seas do this because Buchnevich can play in the top 6 and is on a cheaper contract than DBC.(5.8 million cap hit 2 more years) Neighbours fits the team identity..

Not sure if St Louis does this, they already have 2 world junior players on the team , that they’re not sure of yet.

Buchnevich has a 12 team NTC, and Ottawa is often on those lists.

I also don't think Formenton is being traded before the HC report comes out.

Why would you suspect that?

It sounds like Watson is most likely gone so the Sens will likely target someone to replace him this offseason. They will be looking for players that are cheap and are on short term deals.

Lucic played at the WC with DJ Smith as one of the coaches so he is likely more familiar with him now. He said in a recent interview that he wants to go the Corey Perry route by looking to sign cheap on a contending team. The tone of the interview seemed like he wants to be on a team that could bring some of his passion back for the game, so the Sens locker room could be appealing. He also played multiple seasons with Matthew Tkachuk and likely knows Brady fairly well at this point.

Corey Perry's parents live in Ottawa if I'm not mistaken, and he mentioned a few years ago that he would like his kid to be able to spend more time with them. That was part of the reason why he signed in Montreal a few seasons ago. I'm not sure how realistic of an option he is, but the family connection might lead to something.

Reaves sounds like he would like to stay in Minnesota. He said in his post season interview that he realizes that he is near the end of his career so wants to squeeze out his last bit of money and would also prefer term to create some stability for his kid. I could see the Sens being interested in signing him but not sure what his interest is in signing with the Sens. The quality of the locker room might be appealing to him though.

i’m in the fence. but you’re not screwing the lineup. you’re entire roster doesn’t need to be signed long term. some pieces of your lineup are going to be rotated yearly.

Yes well I never looked at it like if success doesn't really matter so you might as well be entertained and DeBrincat is an entertaining player to watch for sure.

Don't know the source .. Seems DeBrincat wanted to clear up the "throwing the coach under the bus" chatter generated yesterday.

They can’t afford Stone he is gone and to be perfectly fair what kind of contracts do Brady and Stu want if Stone is making 10.5 like he was offered?
It was best to move on

Boston apparently won’t qualify Trent Frederic.

Gritty bottom 6 guy with size. Grew up with Brady. Wouldn’t mind making a pitch.

I do 9th OA and Copp for Debrincat thats a solid deal for the sens. Copp is a good player, more to him than just points. He is versitile, not easy to play against plays all 3 forward positions.

Or 17th their highest 2nd rounder and Copp.

That would be a great deal for us. Just the 9th overall would be a decent trade for us.

Did somebody honestly advocate for Milan Lucic???

Frederic, yes. That's a great suggestion.

Max Domi would be a solid third line target while we're talking grit. He has figured things out and is ready to settle into a reliable role and we have all the leadership we need to keep him in line.

If the cost wasn't too high for Adam Lowry he would be another good depth acquisition on a friendly contract.

Not gritty but would love to target Owen Tippett on Philly if they're selling everything.
