This is all fine and good to keep on repeat but there is a flat cap and no good teams have any room or cap space other than Carolina. Literally everyone is in cap hell. Supply and demand is a real thing right now. The sens are so lucky covid happened tbh. They got to lock up all their young guys at lower numbers and even Dorions blunders might work out for them because no one has any money.

There are lots of typically desirable markets that will have lots of flexibility this summer. Or could easily create flexibility.

Vegas, Nashville, Toronto, Chicago, Colorado, Carolina and Anaheim pop to mind.

Ottawa would still be in tough in the UFA market. Doesn't mean they can't sign a couple of guys, but if they want a Barbashev or Killorn, they'll have to pay a significant Ottawa tax.

Guys like Fast, Sheary, Rodrigues, Bjugstad, etc, are more likely.

Killorn grew up in Beaconsfield, from what I understand, so maybe he'd want to come be closer to home. But I can see Chicago throwing him a high AAV 3-year deal to ride shotgun with Bedard for a couple years. Him or O'Reilly.

I think Dubois would be perfect for Ottawa if we could get him to sign a $7/$8 mil 7/8 yr contract. Ottawa is a bilingual city, Gatineau across the river & it's only about 2 hours from his home town.

It would likely need to be a 3 way deal if DBC doesn't want to go to Winn & some other team willing to give Winn what they want for him. I would also throw in Brannstrom, Joseph or Thomson to get a deal done.

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Giroux
Dubois - Norris - Gauthier
Formenton - Pinto - Batherson
Lucic - Kastelic - Sokolov/Sabourin

Has Dubois said where he wants to go?

I have seen assumptions made by posters saying Montreal is where he wants to go. I wonder if Ottawa would be an acceptable trade destination for him and whether we could negotiate a new contract in advance of or as part of a trade for him.

I like the 4th line with Lucic - Kastelic - Sabourin ! Other teams would be reluctant to target our best players with those 3 in the lineup. Would like the look of Reaves there too.

What is with all these DeBrincat to shit teams proposals?

He's not going to a team like Winnipeg because they know damn well he'll just walk. Teams like Philly and Nashville while not completely asinine given their managerial aggressiveness in the past, are not at all likely candidates to be after him at this stage of their rebuilds.

Not seeing him much you probably don't realize this but Sanderson is probably a future Norris contender so the sens won't be moving him. I realize that seems like high praise for a young player (especially from a team that does a terrible job developing D like us) but he's absolutely unreal at both ends of the ice. His hockey sense and skating is like A+

Oh, I realize how good he is. If we're dealing Saros or Askarov that's the price though. Saros is a top 3-5 goalie in the league and a complete game changer for a team, Askarov is probably the 2nd best goalie prospect in the world after Wallstadt. We're not interested in moving either and the price would be high (Sanderson) if we were.

Senators will run with Forsberg and Sogaard as the backup before losing Sanderson. Plus, there will be other goaltender alternatives available. You can drop the idea of getting Sanderson as that won't happen.

That's the price for Saros or Askarov. Definitely not moving either for a DeBrincat.

As great a goalie as Saros is, he's a UFA in 2 years.

We're not paying what Nashville would want in exchange for him to rent him for a couple years as a bridge goalie to Sogaard/Merilainen.

The issue isn't the fairness of your proposal, it's the absurdity of how many pieces are involved.
Rarely happens.
Well to their credit, Dorion has pulled of some crazy ones asset wise.

Murray credited him for the Phaneuf deal.

The Zaitsev trade.

Duchene deal had a ton of pieces.

Karlsson the same.

And there always seems to be an extra part or two involved in his deals.

Uh huh. Arizona fans had some optimistic ideas about Chychrun too.

Sens aren't going to be the ones to trade for him, but the team that does is going to get him for less than you imagine.

I doubt he moves. Askarov is a few years away still. If/when he moves it'll be closer to when he's a FA which will bring down his value. As of now he's got 2 seasons on his contract still at 5m.

Guaranteed. We know as well as any team.

Your best hope is to make your star for prospect/draft deal and have the magic beans fall your way like the Karlsson trade.

Chychrun asked for a trade and Arizona didn't want to take back salary mid-season. The situations are worlds apart.

Not the same, but the contract is ticking with only two years left, so they're on the clock to a certain extent. Their best bet may just be to keep him, but excellent goalie's can be a real killer to a rebuild and could theoretically do better in the draft status without him.

And you're wanting a top 3-5 goalie in his prime or one of the best goalie prospects in the league. You have to give to get, Nashville isn't giving them up just because you want them.

Sens fans are out to lunch if we think we are getting Saros or Askarov for an unsigned Debrincat.

Nashville fans are just as out to lunch if they think either those two guys are getting Sanderson.

Both are not happening
