Agreed that typically it is a center but wingers can drive lines. The ones that get paid 8 million in this league are capable of doing it. While Pinto wasnt an ideal #2 yet there are way worse ones out there. Chicago won a cup with Handzus/Bolland as a second line center. Because Kane could drive a line.
Idk, this seems a bit reductive, Pinto was overwhelmed in the #2 slot and didn't have anyone to help out with the defensive side. Kane had an experienced vet in Sharp on the other wing, and both Handzus and Bolland were very capable at both ends of the ice.

Kane was/is a borderline generational talent, so I don't really think that's a fair comparison, Kane went on to sign what would be the equivalent of a 12.75 mil contract in today's terms,

It's unfortunate that DeBrincat didn't have one more year on the current deal, this past year, he's playing in a new city for the first time, under a new coach with a new system trying to find chemistry with new linemates, just had a baby, is adapting to no longer playing with a guy like Kane for the first time, lots of things to adapt to for a guy that's still only 25. Top it off with Batherson clearly not playing well for more than half the season and Pinto over his head.

Id like one of Lucic, Reaves or Perry brought in.

With Treliving now in Toronto, I'd bet a lot that Perry goes home to Toronto at the league minimum. He'll be more open to it than Dubas was, and the Perry's have been itching to get back there.

Lucic would be a great add here. No doubt he could play 40-50 games and be a great presence in the locker room.

My bud is a flames fan and the things I have heard Lucic do for that room is something else. Like always available, pays for lots of things, continuously motivating. All about team bonding.

I think he would do wonders for both Brady and DJ. They would learn so much. Personally I expect Looch to win another Stanley cup as a coach somewhere.

If Arz can't keep Keller & Ottawa can't sign DBC they should look to make a deal. Both players are about the same age, about the same size, about the same pts & about the same amount of money. Given Keller is at around $7 mil makes him a little more attractive to Ottawa than paying $8 mil for DBC. And if Ottawa could expand that deal to include Crouse would be a home run.

To Arz: DBC LW/RW, Formenton LW, Joseph LW/RW, Brannstrom LD/RD, Thomson RD & Jarventie C/LW - approx. $11 mil out

To Ott: Keller LW/RW & Crouse LW - approx. $11 mil in

- Ottawa trades a guy they might have to pay more for, a guy who has media issues if he returns, a guy they paid too much, a guy they could lose to waivers & a guy they have trouble justifying in the Stone trade. PD could fix a few problems with one deal.

- Arz get a top six playmaker & goalscorer, a super fast 30 pt winger, another speedster, a decent defenceman who can play either side & two promising prospects.

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Giroux
Crouse - Norris - Keller
Greig - Pinto - Batherson
Ostapchuk - Kastelic - Sokolov/Gauthier

I like Brannstrom a lot but I would do this in a heartbeat which likely means that arizona would not. joseph/thomson/jarventie don't have a lot of value IMO. Kellers line put up legit insane numbers 5v5 last year, shockingly good. Sign me up.

Columbus (22nd Overall) and St. Louis (25th and 29th Overall)
Scoop: We’ve reported on the availability of these picks, as it will be shocking if Blues GM Doug Armstrong is walking to the podium all three times in the first round on June 28 in Nashville. The Blues are looking to move the picks they got for Ryan O’Reilly and Vladimir Tarasenko in exchange for 25-year-old and younger players who can make an impact on their team with cost control. And the Blue Jackets, who have an extra pick from the Vladislav Gavrikov trade to Los Angeles, are also in search of more help (preferably on the blueline) to vault themselves back into playoff contention after an incredibly difficult season.

Ross Colton
Left Wing, Tampa Bay Lightning
Age: 26
Stats: 81 GP, 16 G, 16 A, 32 Pts
Contract: Pending RFA, $1.125 million AAV
Scoop: Colton is due a massive raise and it doesn’t appear that the Lightning have room to pay him. The late-blooming, fourth-round pick who made a dent during Tampa’s 2021 Stanley Cup run also has to cash in. His career earnings total $2.9 million. This is his prime earning time, so a hometown discount likely isn’t in order. Colton has arbitration rights and has established himself as an 18-to-20-goal scorer who can be a consistent contributor on a contending team’s third line.

Colton would be a nice upgrade on Joseph.

That would be a remarkable trade/lineup.

I believe @Qward's said Keller for ADB a few times. Would be a stellar exchange. Even if we add. A better player, bigger, and hell of a contract.

Yes, wouldn't a team like Arizona with a stockpile of prospects over the years have equivalents in their own organization?

Gibson wants out in Anaheim, is he worth it?

His current contract is like a best case scenario for his potential value, and it's locked in for the next 4 years. So it's a huge risk.

Plus he'd have to not have us on his 10 team list.

What if they were to offer him $8 to $9 mil to play there for 8 yrs? Would you play there for that kind of money?
Arizona is playing in Mullet again. No way they are paying Debrincat. Look for LTIR and bad front loaded contracts to be acquired. .

DBC & Keller are somewhat comparable as is Formenton & Crouse, the others are to drive the deal & give Arz a reason to make this deal. If DBC wants more than Ott can afford & Keller wants out of Arz, DBC will likely go to a team that will pay him what he wants for the term that he wants. Arz should pay him because they are having problems keeping good players.

Keller is at $7.1 mil that they are already paying, why wouldn't they be able to afford another million for DBC, especially if they are also moving Crouse at $4.3 mil? Formenton & Joseph together could likely cost what Crouse costs. In fact, it's just about the same money going in as going out given DBC signs for around $8 mil. While I agree Arz situation is in flux I assume at some point the NHL steps in again & maybe one of these Ott bidders get to buy them. They could also trade some of these guys they get in this trade if they want to for picks/prospects while rebuilding.

Arizona’s local revenues are almost non-existent. Keller will be paid 6M on a 7M cap hit, he’s not moving. Schmaltz is almost certainly gone as he is owed more than his cap hit. Arizona is not rebuilding this year, they are trying to spend the fewest dollars possible.

And who the heck is gonna sign their entire prime away in a place without a real, professional arena, a competitive team, or even know for sure what city they'll be playing in?

I'll be surprised if that organization gets much of anyone signing there for term. Just too much uncertainty and an unappealing hockey situation to boot.
