I know this sounds crazy, but I wonder if we could snag Byfield from LA.

Talbot (50%), Watson, Wsh 2nd ‘24 for Walker and Byfield.

Give LA more cap flexibility next season, a tendy they can count on, Watson takes Byfield’s ice time and can contribute on the PK, and a 2nd they could use as another trade chip.

Then in turn maybe offer Pinto to Arizona for Chychrun… (barf)
Jesus this is bad lol

Kopitar will not last forever. Byfield is the only centre prospect they have. Turcotte is who knows where. Vilardi is whatever. They’re not reading byfield unless it’s in a package for a young established canter.

Well Talbot watson and a second for byfield and Walker is very very good lol

Only piece I'd want out of Philly is Wade Allison (for our 3rd line) or Cam York in case we want to try developing him. Really hope we stay away from Tony D

Wow don't know how LA says no to that.

Honestly one of the worst trade proposals I've ever seen.

I’ve done worse - trust me.

I didn’t say it wasn’t crazy!

I think Anzé ends up playing four seasons after this one. Ends up signing a 3 year extension similar to Malkin in Pittsburgh.

They’ve spent some time trying to develop Byfield, and while I haven’t watched him at all since he was drafted his stats aren’t impressive. I know, big centres…

I figure they might be higher on Vilardi as he has 18 goals this season compared to Byfields 2 and averages 20% more ice time than Byfield. Turcotte has dealt with injuries that have likely altered his career trajectory, poor kid.

Again, crazy.

As much as Byfield is LA's best prospect and I don't think we'll ever get Byfield (don't think we need him) I think they're set down the middle. Madden, Turcotte, and Lizotte are still young enough to make an impact. They have plenty of quality wingers that make it easier for them to transition, kinda similar to us. Only difference between us and LA is coaching, Fiala playing his worth there while we haven't had the same production from Cat, and we have opposite needs on D (RD as oppose to LD)

I hope NJD blows their load for Meier and signs him to a contract that screws them over long term by forcing them to rely on ELC talent.

The Devils will have Nemec and Luke Hughes on ELCs, they are going to be a problem for a while. Hughes, Hischer and Meier is a great starting point up front. I imagine it will cost them Mercer and a pick.

This proposal is so good I had to double check if I was high when I read it.

For real man your post had me sitting there like "how high am I right now"?? then it dawned on me that I didn't even smoke yet.

Meier traded to NJ, pending trade call.. curious what his contract will be as I think it’ll give us a good idea on Cat

My gut says we might end up with Chychrun.

We know how much Dorion really wanted him, and we know how much Dorion has a tendency to not let go. The price was probably crazy earlier this season. But, this has clearly become a buyer's market, and with Chychrun staying out of Arizona's lineup, Dorion has waaay more leverage than before.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Deangelo. There was apparently interest from us when he was a UFA and signed in Carolina. He would bring some offense from the back end which we do need. He wouldn't cost too much because of his history and likely not that many teams willing to go for him.

Otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if the Flyers trade Provorov. He's not been as good lately but would be a good pick up for us with that term and contract. He's played both sides.

Sanheim would be nice but they just signed him and he's been their best Dman.

Maybe Nick Seeler? He is left-handed but has a history of playing either side.

He's not more than a bottom pairing D but only makes 800K next year.
