If it comes down to a trade, I have no problem trading Debrincat to any team if we receive equivalent or better value in return, or the best value offered by any other team.

Vancouver was apparently open to dealing Boeser for not much at all. He's played himself out of a huge raise, but even if he wants more, we get 2 years of 50-60points at $6.5 million isn't a bad deal. Garland feels a bit overpaid, but he can play throughout the line up and if we send Joseph the other way, I'd be fine with him coming back. Would be a solid hockey trade.
You guys need to realize we may get into a situation very soon where we have legit one top 6 winger.

Are you referring to the Hockey Canada scandal and possible Giroux decline?
Either way, getting serviceable top-six wingers isn't that hard if you have cap space.

IF DeBrincat doesn't want to sign long term here, despite loving his teammates and knowing the team is going to be good, why would he want to sign long term in Vancouver?

He's willing to sign but can't come to terms on a contract here is a possible scenario.

Which is why I'm confused by the notion that we might be down to one top-six winger. The only reason Drake would be gone would be something to do with the scandal.

B. It’s relatively easy! Not easy. Is it easier than acquiring a top d man or too center yes. But it’s not easy. We acquired a top 5 goal scoring winger lol. And he scored 27 goals while missing chances and were talking about trading him ASAP. It’s not easy to acquire one lol. We can’t even acquire one and actually like him.

Giroux most likely has another couple years of 60+ point seasons.
And what happened to Drake? Why would he go if Cat leaves?

I guess...but the odds of Giroux retiring, Cat walking, Batherson being part of the scandal, doing nothing with 18 mil in cap space, and no prospect developing into a top 6 winger all happening are not very high. Not worth really worrying about at the moment.

I wonder how much he'd ask for on a two year deal. His cap hit is $5 million, but salary is $4 million. Two years at $4million aav seems like a number he'd probably want
It's not ideal but that's the kind of deal we're probably looking at.
I would expect we'd be granting permission to discuss extension with DeBrincat pre-trade with teams interested in him, and if a team like NSH could work out a long-term extension I'm sure they'd be willing to throw another asset our way like a 2nd or a C prospect.
Ideally they'd be willing to put a potential young top 6 forward like Tomasino or Evangelista on the table. Maybe L'Heureux, who is still a year or two away but I remember there were rumours the Sens liked him pre-draft.
The odds of giroux retiring are 100%. Batherson of course question mark but you need to have a good feeling for that before making a decision on dbc. We don’t have many prospects set for top 6 or top line duty.
People will say stutzle needs Brady. But stutzle needs to keep elevating to where he can play between anyone and it be a great line.
