Some interesting free agent goalies could be available this summer...........anyone tempting?
Or do we stay with Forsberg/Sogaard?

I mean I guess for sure it’s too little, but my appetite for paying him more is also very little.
How many games has he been needed but out with injury?
Maybe I am over estimating his lack of availability…we have one goalie whose health going into the season is in question, I’m not sure another year with a 35 year old is where we should be going here…
It would be definitely risky to have both Forsberg and Talbot as our goaltenders nexts season. Going with Forsberg who is under contract for 2 more seasons plus Sogaard would be risky too. We definitely do not need another Murray goaltender. :)

I can't see anyone giving Talbot $5M unless it's a 3 year deal
That would be 3 years times $5M equals $15M. Quite a commitment to a 35 year old goaltender. Scares me!

I think Soogard is in the midst of playing himself onto the roster for next year. He’s playing great for the most part, and coming in and playing as an NHL backup to Forsberg is looking like it might be where his development has taken him. He’s young, but he’s not THAT young to be an NHL backup.

Besides, it would be good to Merri get the back up job in Belleville with Mando, or perhaps a more seasoned guy for mentorship? Maybe Murray would want his old spot back…. ;)

I wouldn't take Talbot back on a 1-year deal where he pays the team $5 million.
Thats absolutely insane he wants anywhere close to that. I wouldnt take him back for free.

Are we sure Korpisalo is re-signing with LA?
Cuz he would be a good back up to Sooggard
(For the record I dont think Forsberg will ever be the same after the injury)
Its his MCL's he is fine. Dont even need surgery. I have torn both of mine and am 100 percent. He lives in my neighbourhood I see him walking around without a limp all the time. He literally could play this season.

People aren't rational when it comes to Talbot for some reason.

He's got a .905 SV% on a terrible defensive team. That's pretty good.

He's a decent 1B goalie. Definitely should get at least 3M on a short-term deal, but 5M is crazy.
He's aweful. He loses his net half the games he plays. Technically very weak. One of the most inconsistent goalies I can remember the team ever having. He has great games but he also sucks half the time. As a player never knowing what you are going to get is terrible.

i think Talbot should be lucky if he gets a back up role and shouldn't be pushing it with his NHL career.

He's 24th in sv% this year. He's still very capable, but he's probably not a great fit for us.

I get the feeling he either wants one last big chunk of change or an opportunity on a contender, even as a backup. If his demands are reasonable, I think quite a few top teams would be interested in fitting him in.

I hate goalies. Always have, even during my playing days....

At least personally speaking, my team and/or the team I cheer for have never once won anything noteworthy on the back of a goalie. I've only seen my goalies fail me at the most critical and important moments, and singlehandedly the season and all dreams.

They are so damn unpredictable from year to year. Team to team. I don't trust any of them relative to what they make in the NHL. For me it's the last hole we plug on the roster with big help from outside, and only after it becomes super clear that help won't be coming from within.

That being said, it's a huge hell no to Talbot unless he's on a cheap one year prove it deal. No interest whatsoever otherwise.

Really really curious to what multi-year deal Talbot turned down from Ottawa. The $5 million is a negotiation tactic, but I'll be surprised if he gets $3 million multi year from any team

Was it $5 m/year, or $5 m was the total value of the contract (over "x" years)? $5m/year seems high.
