Well, like I said, I doubt those are the actual numbers. Where does that info come from? One side leaking it to get the other side to budge a little, most likely. But you keep insisting on going to the maximum of the range as well and using the full 3M gap.

What if MTL thinks Subban should sign for 2 years at 2.8M because he's comparable but slightly better than MDZ? And Subban wants 5-6 years at 5.3M? Montreal is still low balling a bit and Subban is still overvaluing himself, but neither is actually THAT outrageous. In 2+ years Subban will, in all likelihood, be worth 5M. If he wants term, he's still asking for too much, but it's not INSANE like 6.5-7M would be. And if MTL thinks his second contract should be more in line with MDZ that's also probably a low ball, but also not insane for them to be thinking that way.

I understood those numbers as the difference on similar length. And with 3.5 and 6.5 as extremes it's not the max difference I'm using since only one has to be true (ice 4 vs. 6.5 million or 3.5 vs 6 million).

If the difference is for different length, then of course it's something different. Obviously Montreal will much less on a bridge contact than Subban wants on a long term deal.

Can't score goals? Maybe a little early for that conclusion?

They havent been able to score goals for years WITH Gaborik. If we got Nash, but then lose Gaborik, we're back in the same boat, so yes, wouldn't be able to score goals.

Carl Hagelin, Mike Rupp and a 3rd for Chris Stewart and Ryan Reeves...doubt Blues make that trade but it would be sweet for us...

Hagelin outscored Stewart in 15 less games last year.

Just because Stewart is "BIG!11" doesn't make him better. He's lazy and has been lazy for a while. It doesn't look like he'll be putting in a consistent effort any time soon.

I agree on Stewart overall having flaws, but if for whatever reason (development of Schwartz/Tarasenko?) he is on the outs in Stl I would definitely inquire about him.

I would as well, but on the absolute cheap only. Like, 3rd round pick cheap. Not the biggest fan of his, but it'd be better than having Rupp on the 3rd line.

I would like Stewart too, but I think he's worth more than a 3rd. Maybe a 2nd and a middling prospect like Thomas.

If non of our lefties can make the transition to the right side and stick there, do you guys think a Staal for Shattenkirk + Stewart would be a good idea? The Rangers might have to add to Staal.

Del Zotto played the whole game last night on RD. Though Torts has done that before and switched him back.

In our locker room he wouldn't have a chance to be lazy. He put up 28 goals two years in a row...last year he slipped...but I think he could slid onto the right side of the 2nd line and you would have more balance and he would be our answer to Lucic.

I'd rather move MDZ than Staal. Not keen on losing either, but I don't ever want to move Staal.

Not uncommon for scouts to be at a game, however I heard from a buddy that the Wings had scouts at the Rangers/Bruins game last night. No idea if they were scouting the Rangers or B's though.

Connolly ( TO eats half the salary ) for Rupp. Kreider likely going down for playing time. Call up Haley for toughness

Nash, Richards, Callahan
Connolly , Stepan, Gaborik
Hagelin, Boyle, Pyatt
Haley, Halpern, Asham

Connolly sucks and is injury prone...pass!

How about going after TJ Brennan from the Sabres? He would be cheap. Or MA Gragnani from the Canes? Play them as the #6 d-men and let them contribute to the PP. I doubt they would play less than our normal #6 d-man and they may actually help the PP.

I'd be fine with Connolly if they take Rupp back.

He is injury prone but it's only a one year contract and he has some skill that can be used on the PP and bottom two lines.

Penner would cost too much..more so than the infamous Wolski for Penner trade rumors last year.

They really should have grabbed Anthony Stewart from the Kings. Maybe Torts could have got something out of him.
