Nick Kypreos was discussing Marian Gaborik. He made a comment about the Rangers looking/thinking to move him. If Gaby plays like last night,the Rangers won't be thinking about moving him.

Thinking about moving him now? Over the summer I can understand, but now? That would be.. surprising.

I find Gaborik trade talk to be ludicrous.

He could score 25 goals in this shortened season and if I were the Rangers I would still explore the trade market for him. I love him, but if he won't re-sign before UFA and wants too long of a contract I say pass. Get some solid assets back and roll with what they have next season.

I can agree with Kyper on that. I think adding Nash wasn't just an upgrade to boost our cup chances, but also as the likely replacement for Gaborik moving forward. Depends on the numbers, but I really think Gabby is going to be a cap casualty this summer.

I like Bylsma, but he's overrated, IMO. Had Therrien not laid that foundation of a disciplined two-way game, he wouldn't have led that team to the cup that year. Now that he's firmly entrenched his system on them now, you can see the holes start to appear each season. The team is a trainwreck defensively most nights.

Also, Bylsma is a really nice guy. He's not an authoritative presence, IMO. With so much ego on that team, I think they need a hardass to kick them into gear.

If the Pens let Bylsma go I would imagine there would be a long list of teams inquiring. I like him a lot.

It very well could. A lot depends on how well McDonagh performs this year.

I'm not in favor of trading Gaborik unless it's an absolute necessity.

"I think it's ultimately heading toward a trade," said McKenzie. "They're just too far apart on the term of the contract - P.K. wants long, the Canadiens want two years - and they're probably at least $2.5 to $3 million per year apart on where they want to be. Ultimately I think this ends up in a trade."

Can't wait to see the sucker that pays him what he's asking.

In that clip, he's suggesting that Gaborik hasn't been doing well on the Rangers and he has to play the way he did last night to convince the Rangers he should stay. He scored 41 goals last year and scored an important overtime winner in the playoffs, while being injured.

If those 4 are kept, and nearly everyone wants them to be, its going to be a tight fit.

With those numbers, either Montreal must be offering only around 3 million, or Subban wants 7+. Either way it would be ridiculously stupid.

Not really. The difference between 3.5 and 6.5 is 3 million. So, assuming that difference, either Montreal is offering less than 3.5 (" around 3 million"), or Subban wants more than 6.5 ("7+"). It wasn't quite exact, but either way that's a huge gap.

Well, like I said, I doubt those are the actual numbers. Where does that info come from? One side leaking it to get the other side to budge a little, most likely. But you keep insisting on going to the maximum of the range as well and using the full 3M gap.

What if MTL thinks Subban should sign for 2 years at 2.8M because he's comparable but slightly better than MDZ? And Subban wants 5-6 years at 5.3M? Montreal is still low balling a bit and Subban is still overvaluing himself, but neither is actually THAT outrageous. In 2+ years Subban will, in all likelihood, be worth 5M. If he wants term, he's still asking for too much, but it's not INSANE like 6.5-7M would be. And if MTL thinks his second contract should be more in line with MDZ that's also probably a low ball, but also not insane for them to be thinking that way.
