Carolina keeps scatching McBain, good start or bad start I would want a better 6th Dman so McBain for Bickel and one of the NYR 3rds.

McBain has one yr left at 1.8, Bickel has another yr left so make the Canes take a contract back even though it is cheap. 3rd rounder give some value back to the Canes who seem to have given up on the guy

Should sign Arnott :sarcasm:

"If the Habs decide to deal Subban, Detroit, Philadelphia and the Rangers will make a push. But sources insist there is a surprise candidate that could have the assets to acquire Subban -- the Winnipeg Jets. League sources say GM Kevin Cheveldayoff wants to make a splash to get an impact player. The problem for Bergevin is simple: As mad as the Habs' camp is at Subban, he's a thoroughbred and they don't come along often ..."

Reporters have a tendency to throw the Rangers name into the mix in every trade rumor, so I'm not sure I buy the team's interest.

Agreed...one of the reasons Sather was able to go out and get Gaborik, Richards and Nash was the young and inexpensive defense. McDonagh is likely to get a bigger payday, and, for all the grief he sometimes gets, MDZ looks like he's taking the next step in his development. I don't see Sather giving up the assets, nor paying the contract that Subban is demanding. Besides, it's Garrioch, who has proven he knows little about what the Rangers intend to do. Remember, Garrioch stated that the Rangers were willing to part with Kreider for Nash. Garrioch pretty much speculates out of his ass.

I dont' think the Rangers even have the resources it would take to get Subban without gutting their own team

Care to tell us why not?

Do the NYR need to really get older and slower ( as NYR sign Jason Arnott)
Prospal can play PP but the sad reality is Torts the old sentimental Clown has a tendency to overplay Vaclav the Great . Defensively Vaclav Prospal can't cut it anymore .

:handclap:

We're associated with every free agent and trade rumor ever. Habs aren't letting their young #1 D go for scraps.

Subban is NOT coming to NYC
We are not giving up what we need to
At least I think not
Typical thing to include NYC in every major trade rumor...

If MDZ, Skjei and something more would be the cost, I would most likely balk considering the amount of money he seems to be expecting/demanding.

But a top 4 of:
McD - Subban
Staal - Girardi

sure looks enticing :amazed:

But it would blow up the team next year as well
Not gonna happen tho, move on...

Forget what it would cost to actually get him here, if he did get here he'd still need to be signed and Slats is never paying Subban the money he wants. Forget it.

Where's NYRBoyler87 to give his list of available LHD-men that could slot in that #6 spot next to Stralman, and earn Tortorella's trust to play 10 minutes a night?

Totally agree. Not a fan of either of these two returning. They injected a little youth last night with Ferriero and I thought it gave them some jump. If they make another move I would hope to see them continue on the pattern.

No to Feds
No to Prospal

This is thinking a little far ahead as its not till June, however I wonder if Sather has any plan to try and get back into the first round in this years draft.
