This post, right here... the epitome of why I think these boards may have been more habitable during the lockout. It's unbearable during the season; we lost two games!!! Hagelin's a bum! Kreider's a bust! Hank's lost his form! Girardi is awful! McDonagh is overrated! Nash looks overweight! Gaborik is timid! Trade Richards so we can sign Getzlaf!

Lord help me.

Amen Brother Amen

Kassian has 2 in his last 31 games. Want to compare the 31 games before that?

And I wouldn't say Gaborik makes the players around him better.

How about a 6'3 215 pound horse opening the ice up for Gabby...

2 more goals than Hagelin and adds more size and protection for the guys on his line...when Hagelin just skates really fast in warm ups....

This board is painful right now...

Kassian is awesome, man. He's so good!

But I'll only offer Thomas and a second for him. He's still AWESOME though!

Kreider is just as tall, heavier and would "open up" more ice. If Kreider isn't doing it, what makes you think Kassian will?

Well to be fair, Kreider is playing with Legend Brian Boyle.

I want to see Kreider-Stepan-Gaborik. Stepan has great chemistry with both of those players. And Gaborik needs to be on his off-wing.

Nash has shown us he will be best at RW. If you're playing Gabby at RW too, which is certainly his stronger position, you're looking at either Callahan on the LW or on the 3rd line.

That's where I want him (3rd line), and that's not a knock on him. He tries to do too much when paired with playmakers like Richie or Stepan. Put him with bangers like Boyle and Pyatt, and THAT is a great shutdown line, which has a chance of keeping the puck in the O-zone for more than 5 seconds. He would still get 1st PK/PP minutes. And he'll be out there whether we're up a goal or down a goal.

Stepan-Callahan is a disaster, and always has been.
Richards-Callahan is blind-backhand-pass-to-no-one-Central.

I'm sorry, but I absolutely cracked up reading this. I think Boyle has himself a new moniker.

Callahan on the third line would still get 20 minutes a night including his top PP and PK time. He was testing 24 last season along with Richards which is a lot.

I think the problem is we are weak and inconsistent on the left side. You have a few curiosities but no proven scorers. Hagelin and Pyatt will produce okay numbers, but Kreider is a gigantic question mark and Rupp doesn't look o me like the kind of guy who has 10 goals in him any more.

So I guess the question becomes how to we get an offensive left winger here on the cheap (Salary and asset wise)

Completely agree. Maybe we can get a guy who is a little overpaid, provided that the old team retains some of the cap hit?

My idea was Vinny Prospal or Colin Greening, but it seems unlikely.

Love Greening. A third line of Greening - Boyle - Callahan would be a really, really good line. It allows Kreider to play in the top six where he'll hopefully be more useful and gives us a really strong top nine overall. Greening can slot in to the top six too in the case of injuries.

I'm not sure Greening's much better than Hagelin. Than again, someone nearly as good as Hagelin would be valuable.

I'm curious as to what Ottawa would want. Put it on the trade board, but don't expect anything other than "he won't go unless it's an upgrade".

I would give something like a 2nd + an OK prospect, maybe Fogarty or someone?

Weren't you one of the guys who thought that Halperin would be a good addition?

What makes you think he isn't a good one? Because Rupp can't keep up with him?

Ottawa would want a defenseman for Greening. They're very weak there in terms of depth. Not sure what we could offer. They probably want someone who can play now.

Would anyone mind Alexei Ponikarovski? Solid numbers last year. Good third liner. If Winnipeg is out of it, we could probably get him for a pick at the deadline. Expiring contract too. Adds depth up front.

Maybe he kills the Devils as well?
