To me, pacing is completely meaningless. If they don't hit the mark, they didn't hit the mark. Injuries, etc. could always derail a season so I put no real stock in pacing.

and i think if youre counting pacing, you need to do it on both sides of the argument.

im too lazy, but i bet if you count pacing, Callys seasons are way more impressive.

but i could be wrong.

I'm going to have some pulled pork for lunch (which is why I thought of that, lol).

We have a place here that serves pulled chicken, chipotle bacon mac and cheese, soaked in Kansas city sauce.

If you've never had chipotle bacon mac and cheese or kansas city sauce...

I suggest you get on that ASAP.

This society is really beginning to assign mediocre definitions to words that previously represented so much more.

Sorry, I am extremely excited. Stewart is a monster that can play, and when he's determined, he's one of the best players in the NHL. Lead his team in points last year. When he was traded to the blues in 2010 he scored 15 goals in 26 games. Next year is his contract year.

I normally do as well, but to beat the drum so hard over 2 goals last season, in a shortened year no less, seems like nit picking to me. Yeah, he could have been injured, but would that really be more evidence in your favor, or just an unlucky circumstance?

Yep. If going on pacing, Callahan would have been on pace to hit at least 20 goals in every single season except his rookie one (not counting the 14 game call-up he had -- which, funnily enough, he was on pace for 20 goals there, too).

If they land Stewart, I 100% foresee a Richards buyout and a push for Stastny. Much as I disgaree about Stastny. That's where the cap $ will be allocated.

Agreed. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this whole thing was turned on it's ear and Brassard went for Stewart and Callahan went for Stastny.

Adding Stewart and Stastny would be a Gorton move. Again, modeling this team after the Bruins. Size and grit on the wings, emphasis on two-way ability at center, and big, mobile defensemen.

I wouldn't have any idea. I don't like to get into hypotheticals re: projected scoring.

Why is the argument what Callahan did or did not do? Callahan is the one asking for too long of a contract. The Rangers are trying to get good value back. Stewart is decent value if there are piece(s) added.

Absolutely, but that's not really the point here. Nobody is doubting Callahan's abilities, but many are doubting Stewart's.

You mean the captain thats getting tweener 2nd/3rd line minutes and is demanding a 7 year contract?

It's a wonder he was ever even named captain in the first place.

Damn the guy that carried this team (along with Henrik ofcourse) for his last 5 seasons!

And the point of my comment was i'm sure we can get Chris "2nd coming of Ovechkin" Stewart for much less than our captain.

You need to get over it. Cally is leaving. It's just a matter of what return they get for him.

We all love what cally did for the rangers. But if they aren't prepared to offer him a huge 7 year deal then it doesn't matter. There is no way cally is here next season.

Pretty much none since coming to St. Louis. He had one three game suspension but I don't think he's missed any time because of injury since coming. No idea about Colorado.

He's healthy most of the time.

Look, Stewart is a power forward who has good offensive skills. He doesn't hit a ton but he can drop the gloves when called upon. The guy has over 100 PIM's already this season. He works the front of the PP well and is still young @ 26.

Not directed at you Falco:

I'm not saying he is Corey Perry, but the people flabbergasted by the mere thought they would have interest are going a little overboard.

It does not seem that Blues fans are to happy about Stewart. Words like lazy and inconsistent get thrown around. I have a lot of faith in Rangers scouting but those are not words I like associated with any player.

Especially a guy coming back to us for Cally.

Normally nor do I. I totally get what you're saying, I just think it's a little.. I dunno, unnecessarily strict this time around, maybe?

Eh, I just take issue when supposed facts are thrown around. Stewart has been an incredibly inconsistent player throughout his career. So with him, I think extra caution needs to be taken in terms of projections.

Callahan leaving in FA and getting nothing in return makes the team better?

I think you are reading alot more into what was said than what was actually said. Straight up, yes I think it is a sucker mans trade. I would at least expect Stewart, a prospect, say Carrier or Rattie for Cally and a pick. There are more trade proposals out there that should offer a more consistent player than Stewart.
