with callahan out for over a much, staal out for who knows how long, and the team playing like ****, sather could really do a one year tank job this year by dealing del zotto or girardi now.

if Del Zottos dealt for similar forward the D looks like that

McDonagh Girardi
Falk Stralman
Moore McIlrath

If Girardi is dealt for draft pick/prospects than the d looks like

McDonagh Stralman
Del Zotto Falk
Moore McIlrath

with the total lack of scoring that D and Henke's play cant prevent this team from being bottom 5 this year.

I like kane as a player but I'm definitely wary of adding anymore guys who come from losing franchises. The Jets/Thrashers have done nothing but suck during Kane's career to this point.

SC winning teams aren't going to trade their top players to us, so were going to have to pursue talent as it presents itself to us.

Whatever. Go for a top 5 pick this year and sell. (Fire Sather first)

Everyone but Hank, McD, Kreider should be available. Trade for players with skill, grit, and reasonable contracts.

might be the best thing to ever happen to this franchise. take a step back, make some trades, cut dead wood in the offseason, sign some top ufas and draft in the top ten overall with our 1st round.

might be the closest we'll ever come to a rebuild.

Could see a trade go down in the next 2-3 days
Could see 2 of Hagelin/Stralman/Zucc moved in a surprising deal

Why because they are all "soft Euros" and then you could go on some xenophobic diatribe about how Americans love violence and hamburgers?

unfortunately glen probably thinks this team is a piece or 2 away and we will keep all of our UFA to be's and trade a 2nd rounder for an aging 3rd liner at the deadline.

Nice wording there sport
I actually love violence and hamburgers
No - because they might have some kind of value

You also love to make Euros out to be some kind of victim of bias at all times. Just found it convenient how you assume the Euros on the team would be the first in line to be dealt.

Maybe if the Rangers keep losing maybe he acquire some young taltented forwards. Nash seems streaky and lazy. Not a player you build around. He is not star material. He seems that he doesn't have much personality at all.

I think they have value on the trade market. In contrast to some worthless guys like Pouliot, Pyatt and Asham. Want the team to improve. Foremost. Since you went the way of personal attack here and are such a great patriot you might give one thing some thought - How are the stats on this team this season in regards to production per $$ in salary? If you do not bother looking it up I might help you later by reiterating it for you...

We should move elements, but would we really trade working offense and a good D for offense and a good D ? Or picks.

Remember we have injuries in knees and *****

I'm no patriot, but I'm not biased in the other direction either.

I've already seen the stats you are referring to. I know. I couldn't care less what flag they fly, however.

I would be very shocked if Zucc got moved, he is one of the only players who has the right kind of skill to play AV's style right now. IMO, unless it was a slam dunk of a trade, that wouldn't make sense.

I'm sick of band-aid moves. This roster needs an overhaul and so does management.

Can we start adding some Nash deals here? In todays NHL, you dont need a guy like Nash to win. 7.8 million of that can be used for other areas on the team, maybe defense and forward. If we can trade Nash i would. If i'm not mistaken, there was other teams calling about him when he we wanted to be traded right?

No one wanted to pay the price except for us then, and I doubt anyone would pay it now.

We gave up a first, 2 roster players, and what we thought was one of our better prospects.

Nash isn't going anywhere. The Rangers may have a bad year but he isn't going anywhere. Rangers will draft and retool for next year.

It's late, I went crazy, this will never happen, but so awesome.

Trade Staal, Miller, NYR 1st to EDM for Eberle and EDM 1st.

Trade Girardi and Callahan to COL(Where they will resign) for O'Reilly, Mcginn and Barrie

Trade Boyle, Brassard (Salary Retained), 2nd to Chicago for their 1st and Jeremy Morin.

Trade D. Moore for a 2nd.

Trade MDZ to San Jose for Tennyson and a 2nd.

Sign Ott, Nikitin and (Don't hate me) Thornton.

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(estimations for 2014-15)
SALARY CAP: $71,100,000; CAP PAYROLL: $69,924,167; BONUSES: $676,667
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $1,175,833

Go into the Draft with two Firsts, two Seconds, and in hopes that the EDM first is a high pick (3rd overall if we went by standings as of today). I don't like how slow Thornton is, or his age, but at a reasonable term (3 years is a dream) the man can still put up points. Don't have to bother with him though, Save 6.5 Million on the cap, Swap ROR back to center with Hagelin slotting into 2LW, Morin to 3LW. Faceoffs should improve overall. Gain a lot of Youth, Size and bite with that lineup. Multiple high draft picks along with prospects from the trades replenishes pipeline and causes a bit more competition for NHL roster spots.

Disclaimer: It really is late, I'm tired, and I still understand that this is an absolutely ridiculous post that will never happen (I channeled my inner Bern), but it's indicative of the type of direction I'd like to see the team go in, getting bigger, stronger, younger with more offense littered throughout the entire lineup, rather than just one line. Sacrificing some of the super strong defensive play we've been known for past few years for a slightly more offensive blue line with speed and the ability to jump up into plays with more regularity, while still being relatively sound in their own end.

I like your direction getting younger and tougher....too bad it will never happen except for maybe the Thornton part. :(

Joe Thornton isn't happening for under 7.5. And why would he leave SJ, who are in a much better position to win the cup than we are?
