MDZ is getting moved sooner or later.

Vigneault is about to lose his mind. He's throwing everyone under the bus. He's not happy.

A message needs to be sent to this group. Vigneault thought the prospect of someone close to the core would light a fire for them all to start playing at a high level. The players regressed.

My opinion is Del Zotto is gone by Christmas break, if not by the end of the week. Vigneault's first victim.

Bringing up Mc Ilrath is not going to cure AV's brain loss. If anything it will cause a relapse. He may start loving Del Zotto! :shakehead

I remember going to a game 3 or 4 years ago where the Rangers were playing the Stars. Brad Richards was dynamic. Controlling play, distributing the puck beautifully. I remember saying "Man, I wish the Rangers had a guy like that."

Then, we got him, and hes been a shell of himself. The Rangers need to ask themselves why that always happens to them when acquiring the top-shelf talent they need. The answer is muddled.

the answer is clear

Old players get older, young players get better.

Odd is the occasion where an older UFA is going to come to a team and maintain a certain pace or improve/

The real fact with Richards, much in the same way as it was with Redden, is that for 2 consecutive season PRIOR to joining the Rangers he saw a decline in production. That had continued thru last season. He's having a great first half, but I would suspect that he will not be able to sustain and will end the season with 50-55 pts.

Not bad, but NOTHING close to what we wanted when we signed him.

Can it be the city? Is it too big of a distraction for the players? Can they handle all there is? Everything is available to them, whether they play well or not. Why bother trying?

Dubi loved the city. His play slipped. Rangers traded him. It's a business. He took it personally. Look at what he said today. Players come in here, get comfortable, become entitled.

NYC has chewed up and spit out alot of hockey players over the years. I always felt you really need a certain type of self disciplined player to truly excel here. Messier a perfect example. Not only was Mess able to walk the line he kept the boys together and in tact. Graves was the perfect Henchman to Messier. The results were well...Yeah

Since then guys came here and didn't know how to handle it. Lindros fell apart. Theo couldn't hack it. Drury who was self-disciplined never got comfortable here...Gomez, forget it! The list goes on.

It's up your GM to find that Larger than life guy to lead. Sather in his tenure here has failed to do so. While I do think Callahan is captain-worthy, that truly is by default. The reality of it is he would probably make the perfect Henchman, or the Graves to Messier. Problem is... Who else could lead like Mess did?

Too late now however Iginla would have been a very good candidate. Jaime Benn I think is going to be an excellent captain. Jonathan Toews IMO is also a good example. In the future Gabriel Landeskog.

None of the aforementioned are available. None of them are likely to get traded anytime soon. There is one way though to better your position. That is to be willing to trade a player and or players to gain overall assets. I think tht os where this club is currently. Will Sather do that though? No way...He's always in it for the now, and will do so at the expense of picks for players that will likely not be here long. It's just the position he put himself in.

This is good but I don't even think Nash cares about points. Starting to look like the guy is here just to collect a check

What? Nash has 10 points in 11 games since his concussion return.

Can we all stop acting like Rick Nash is a 4th line plug on this board!

Nash is lazy, dumb, selfish and the reason the rangers are bad now. If only they have never traded for that "perennial loser."

Thats not a plan, its a soundbite. You sound like Sather with this fluff.

I defend Callahan Auto's:
acquire as much talent as possible at the best prices.

It is a plan.
One aspect, which everyone is good with, is a solid draft, which we are finally getting.

Not everybody is on board with the rest of it, the tough part.

Trade guys at their height for profit, invest in the profit, in a short enough period of time you have more total talent and quality talent.

But ya gotta put in the time.
Gotta go 1 step back to go 3 forward.

We're screwed cause Staal got concussed, ok that happens. we still have a year hope he recovers to play then extend or trade.

Should have moved Girardi before when worth was higher. Move now.

Cally would depend on the return.
Now, it looks like best option, depending upon medical is a 1 year deal, he's young enough, let him showcase himself. He wants to be paid, not likely we can, But this damaged year is not gonna get him top dollar.

Trade guys who are peaking - Stepan, w/wo a + - for a monster return.

This is partially why I'm still thinking about whether or not to keep Richards.

That recapture may not be too bad in the long run. 6.66 mil for him is quite cheap at current prices. He could very well be on an 80 point pace on a team like Chicago right now.

Want to be open minded, but bottom line in his case is risk.
If he gets injured, we get boned. All that cap, and no work around for it.

Has to go.

Callahan and Brassard out tonight and still Hagelin can't get into top6, what kind of return would hags get us? Worth it?

Keep him; just bring in guys that bump him down in the depth chart.

Thought I saw glimpses of top6 potential from Him last year and when he came of IR this season.. Well the whole team is pretty much under achieving...

Keep Hagelin. He's capable of being on a second line with guys he has chemistry with but is also great on a third line and can kill penalties. Unlike some other players on this team, he's extremely valuable even when he's not scoring.

Of course, if he's needed to grab a star, he's expendable. But he's not the type of guy you shop.

Kane to Rangers???

if Sather can pull this off..

Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff continues to field calls for star sniper Evander Kane, but remains firm in his stance against trading him unless an offer completely knocks his socks off.

The Jets have had several discussions with a number of teams about Kane's availability, which varies day after day.
The Montreal Canadiens first spoke to the Jets about Kane in the off-season, and those discussions were revisited this season.

The New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders and Florida Panthers have also kicked the tires on Kane's availability, along with a few other clubs.

One guy will not help us.

yes one guy will help us... Will he solve every problem? No. But having another legit top six winger would help.

Who do you think we will have to give up? We have no depth as it is, we will need to trade a player, prospect and a pick. Is he worth it?

haaha Boyle with a weak shot.. this guy has to be the weakest player in the NHL
