You sure that's not backwards? Maybe the crap play of everyone causes the team to be bad.

I think it's more likely that most players are playing poorly, rather than all. All would be an odd phenomenon. Look at it the other way around. Colorado is playing well as a team, some players are along for the ride and collect points and plus ratings on the great play of others.

If Stepan, playing poorly shoots wide on a great Del Zotto feed, that reflects negatively on both because of one's mistake.

Is there a bure type available? Because if there is and he doesn't wanna be team friendly I'm cool with it if he SCORES A GOAL.

Grabner isn't Bure's level but he is the only player in the league who gets away with playing the way Bure did.

Abandon defense, try to get a breakaway

Maybe. But you can also say the same for us. McD doesn't look like warm doggy poopoo out there. Most players do.

Maybe they're dragging each other's play down. No one seems to give a ****. Maybe that spreads around the locker room, and before you know it, you have a locker room full of losers who are only collecting a paycheck.

Bottom line this team lacks stars. McDonough is now playing on an all star level. Can anyone else name one? How many first liners does this team have and when I say first liners I'm saying a first liner on every team in the league. Nash is a first liner but good teams probably wouldn't even want him

Yeah that's a bad example. Only comparable because of speed. I'm saying a goal scoring/assist machine who scores a point a game + who doesn't play team defense but you know he's gunna give you points.

Well that's not really fair. By those standards, Malkin isn't a first line player because he doesn't play on the first line in PIT, and players like Getzlaf aren't first liners because there are players SOMEWHERE who would cause those two to be on the 2nd line.

Hell, Getzlaf would be Pittsburgh's third line center.

Not gonna say the Y-word around here because I don't want to give myself false hope, but there is someone with that knock on him up in Edmonton, yeah. :D

The whole team looks like a mess. It would be one thing if it was just the goaltending or the skill forwards or the checking line, but there's only a few guys who are playing well. Still think talent will win us a few games as we cling to that .500 mark like it's a magnet, though.

Ovechkin?

Only player in the league comparable to bure. And we'll never get one, why? Because as a New York franchise you're not allowed to go into a full on rebuild to get a #1 pick. Without that sacrifice a team will always be mediocre.

This is good but I don't even think Nash cares about points. Starting to look like the guy is here just to collect a check

Nash tries to do too much himself. He's an effective player, but I'd like to see him use his linemates more.

Only the penguins would he be a 3rd line center. That's because they have the 2 best offensive centers in the world. Getz is 1st line center on this team and most others

Nash needs to rethink his style of play because everytime he comes into the zone he turns his back and looks to dump it to a linemate or turn back and shoot. This what I'm trying to tell everyone, we don't have a first line. We are Columbus now with a great dman in McDonough and lundqvist who's having his first off year in his career. This team went in a dangerous direction when they traded for Nash

You said every team. Just by those standards, there are only 3 first line players in the league.

I'd love to take a chance on yak In the offseason though, gotta let his price go down a bit. But in the offseason we won't have anything to give up to get him. I've been saying for months trade for bobby Ryan or Tyler seguin or loui erikkson. Young top 6 forwards on good contracts but they're not the big name we always go for and it's disgusting

You say this now, but Im telling you, New York fans would never put up for how bad you have to be for a long period of time to build a team like Pittsburgh or Chicago did.

Those teams sucked for years, plural. Trying to an abridged tank and thinking you're going to come out with a franchise leading piece is a huge risk.

MOST FANS. I'm not most fans I've been saying this for years, we have been suffering through .500 hockey for a few years now and 1 year of over achieving that got us bounced by a terrible devils team. Give me 5 years of missing the playoffs for a real team like Chicago or Boston.

Edit: and I'm not talking about tanking I'm talking about rebuilding the right way. Not trading or signing guys we all know won't produce like they did before they got here. This team is more than a few pieces away from contention and I think they need to take a step back before we can go forward here. I hope we suck for the rest of this year and next and don't sign anyone. Draft well then make moves because this team sucks

Well, good on you I guess for being willing to sacrifice.

Our old-ass GM isn't, our owner isn't, most of the fan-base isn't

My point is if you're going to tank, you need to TANK. A one-year detour into tank-ville is half-assing it. I see people advocating building a team like Pittsburgh and Chicago -- and I dont think they realized how badly and how long they sucked.
