Vigneault said he began internal conversations with #NYR brass this morning about a possible Hartford (AHL) call-up. Nothing decided yet.

Put a camera in that meeting.:)

The Lundqvist extension was completed in a three-hour meeting last Tuesday night. It took longer than most of us suspected, but, in the end, both sides wanted closure one way or the other. The Rangers were nervous about term, but once they made the decision to go seven, they were confident it was going to get done.

The deal was announced the next morning.

The team could sell off pieces, but we're not going to get impact back for them if another team is renting or buying at the deadline. How do we get a top 6 young controllable player for Brass and MDZ as shown above? What contending team feels that addition while giving up a young top 6 player helps them now and in the future? It would have to be prospects or young guys close to breaking into the NHL, but are bottom 6 level now.

Look at the deadline moves last year. These players will have to be of impact the next season, meaning potential top 6 next season for the now.

Of who is on the way out, I'd resign only Callahan and Stralman. Everyone else is meh. Trade Girardi. Trade Staal if you can. Keep MDZ unless he can bring in a top 6 player in the offseason. With the extra cap room, should explore trades. There will also be compliance buyouts for those under performing their contract, but are 2nd/3rd line players. They should be invested into. They usually have something to prove.

Invest into speed and size. Look how effective Kreider is now that he has "figured it out". Last night, viktor stalberg made a difference pressuring the D with size and speed. Skating is very important. Team does need a dynamic center, but can definitely use some good size there too. Not Boyle size and skill. That was something Dubi and AA gave the team that is missing. Cannot stress size up the middle too. Every good team has it.

As long as Lundqvist wears a Rangers jersey this team will never go into a full rebuild. We just have to hope that our middleish round draft picks pan out or that when the team actually trades/signs established players that they come in and do well. So far we've had a lot of mixed results.

Take 6 points off the Rangers (3 wins Talbot got us that Biron likely wouldn't have) and if the season finished today we'd be picking 6th WITH Lundqvist.

Don't underestimate what this current team is capable of.... :help:

Bingo.

The day that the contract was signed guaranteed us almost a decade of being outside of the NHL lottery, for better or worse.

We're in "go for it" mode for the foreseeable future.

Rangers could really use some scoring out of these guys:

Look at that nose-dive for Pouliot.

Trade Staal, its the logical decision at this point in my opinion. He's been inconsistent when healthy and has rarely been healthy for the better part of the last two seasons.

Del Zotto is no where near as bad as this board makes it seem, he has just been mismanaged and can still thrive. He is young and has great upside.

As controversial as it is, I do not think Callahan has a place on this team. He is constantly injured, and is inconsistent when healthy. He doesn't fit the style of play and will he demand more than 5 million per on his next contract. Would be great to trade him for prospects/picks.

Need to start building a solid prospect pool for the future of this team.

Controversial? Half the board hates him right now .

I'd love to trade Staal, and keep DZ (THAT is controversial) at this point, but Marc's not healthy and his trade value seemingly doesn't exist anymore.

Same with Cally.

This whole situation just blows.

For all the reasons you correctly mention, I have to wond what all those things do to his trade value.

I would agree if it didn't seem as though Del Zotto has become a target of the head coach.

I'm at a loss as to what to do with Callahan.

Are you suggesting that this team *gasp* lacks depth?

Callahan del zotto and staal are all trade options. Too bad 2 of them can't stay healthy and 1 can't play defense or hit the net. All three don't have good trade value at the moment

I love that AV is speaking out.

Coach called the players out & nothing changed.

Players only meeting & seems nothing changed.

It's time to trade a major piece(s)& see if that shakes them up.

If we starting to sell of guys who isnt in the long term plans soon enough we will probably get a decent pick in this draft and remember all non playoff teams is in the lottery.

In fans eyes no one has value, but make a guy like Girardi available and teams will pony up.

You all know that when a team's performance suffers, so does the production of everyone on it, regardless of how they might be playing individually. That us why everyones production is down here and in Buffalo. Not everyone stinks individually, but the team is stinking collectively.

The only exceptions are players like Bure who don't involve themselves in the rest of the team's on-ice affairs.

I agree. They all have value but 2 years ago all 4 of them were "untouchable" to us fans. I'm just saying they won't return as much as they would have a few years ago

You sure that's not backwards? Maybe the crap play of everyone causes the team to be bad.

Is there a bure type available? Because if there is and he doesn't wanna be team friendly I'm cool with it if he SCORES A GOAL.
