This team should sell off the assets that aren't in the plans anymore, but as long as we're in the playoff hunt, anything can happen, right guys?

There are not a lot of Rangers prospects that are going to turn pro next year. We have a lot of vets at both the NHL and AHL level who I expect are not going to return either. Guys you draft in the coming draft are not likely to fill those holes until maybe a year, two, three years from now.

We can send the likes of Pouliot, Pyatt, Dominic Moore, Powe, Asham, Bourque, Jean, Missianen, Syvret etc. packing while others like Bickel, Haley probably leave and Richards gets bought out but we'll still need to replace all of them in some way. More than likely free agency--whether it's undrafted college or CHL kids or this summer's UFA market. And keep in mind that with the above mentioned we're not even getting to the rest of our UFA's/RFA's who matter like Callahan, Boyle, Girardi, Stralman--UFA's and Kreider, Brassard, Zuccarello, Del Zotto, Moore, Kristo and Falk--RFA's and I'm not sure about Talbot.

We have at least a dozen holes to fill and a potential of several others and which of our prospects are set to turn pro next year? Right now I see not a single one. Nieves? Skjei? Take a look.

Appears to me we are going to be rebuilding from the ground up.

You're assuming theres a plan. I have to assume that the plans are to "make the playoffs and win the Stanley Cup"

I think Sather is working on a way to win the Cup without that whole making the playoffs thing.

He signs losers. Winning is a mentality. Hard to field a winning team when you assemble a team full of 1 cup winner, rookies, and veterans that have always been on a team with a losing presence.

You need cup winning vets. Phaneuf would be great and all, but does he even have the slightest idea of what it means to elevate his play when the team needs him most? Does Vanek? Does Thornton?

oof...please tell me that stat is wrong...it just.....hurts to read that.

Just checked. Dubi and Cally both hit 54 in less than 82 games, and their paces were both for 57 points or more, but obviously they didn't actually get those numbers.

Then there's York at 57 in 69 games in 2001-2002, and Leetch with 79 the year before that.

Anybody think we'll see MCilrath with staals injury?
McD stralman
DZ Girardi
Moore McIlrath

i think their is a better chance of trading another high draft pick for someone like Liles :help: that is typical Sather

imagine if Sather did this

John Michael Liles for Beniot Pouliot and 2ed lmao...

Better news that expected. Rather have more draft picks this year than in any of the previous 5 drafts.

2014 is supposed to be a very average year. 2015 is supposed to be a terrific draft. However, impact players come out of every draft, and some drafts turn out much stronger/weaker then originally thought.

What would it take to get Chris Neil from the Sens?

Boyle for Neil? Boyle is a UFA but Neil is signed for one more season so we may have to include a draft pick.

Neil has a no trade and Rangers are not on the list.. too old.. Rangers need to get these type of players when they are younger, not get them when they are in their 30's and washed up and injury prone :help:

I think Conner Allen will make the team next year. He surprised a lot of people in camp this year. So if they. think he could be ready next year then I see Staal and Del Zotto getting traded.

I'm tired of the stopgaps but this is one situation where I'd rather see Falk in then McIlrath. Let this guy play top mins in the AHL and learn to be a top guy. Learn the ups and downs as a top guy. We can use him right now but his development needs him down there for the full year.

I'm pretty sure that Neil has 2 years after this one at 1.9 million… He also has a limited NTC so the idea may be moot anyway. Ott loves him, and he loves Ott.

Ott is also on the outside looking in playoff wise, so I doubt they are looking at impending UFA Boyle..

I'd agree… I'd also argue the same point for JT Miller...

Wow I had no idea! I wasn't aware 3rd and 4th liners are getting any kind of NTC in their contracts. I remember when NTC's were only reserved for the elite players.

Anyway why do you think he wouldn't want to come to the Rangers? It seems to me a lot of players jump at the chance to play here because of how good they are treated and being a playoff contender.

They did try to sign him years back. I remember Sather made a strong play for him
But he's happy in Ottawa.

Still effective in his role. More than I can say for our bottom six

that is true... i want Cody McLeod or Matt Beleksey... i wonder if they would be available. they would be an upgrade over what Rangers have now..

I would do the same. JT is at a weird point where he seems to be too good for the AHL but not good enough for the NHL. He's gonna figure it out and I say let him do that over the next couple months in Hartford.

you should not say it like that, then these simple minded fans think he will be the next Kris Newbury :sarcasm:

Clifford, McLeod, McGinn, Beleskey, Reaves, Roussell, Foligno are some names that should be looked at.

This whole "you can't get rid of your captain" ********, is just that, ********. In the past couple years Buffalo traded Pominvillle, Calgary traded Iginla, Vinny was bought out in Tampa, Parise was let go in NJ, you do what's best for your team, these guys are not a rare coin collection.
