I don't see why you couldn't

You just have to wonder if a rebuilding team like Edmonton would accept that. Maybe if it was something like player, prospect, prospect/player 2nd/3rd/etc.

Perpetual rebuild lawl. Don't see why they wouldn't though. It's not like they can draft a winning team with a bunch of first overall picks. Think they'd rather move a first, the novelty has probably run out with fans.

MDZ+ would probably not get it done.

I would think the Oilers would be interested in McD primarily. Won't happen.

They'd want a top-end piece like McDonagh, we'd be able to give Girardi++ but they'll get something better from one of the other twenty interested teams in the NHL.

You doubt Sather the Magician?

See Gomez for Higgins + McD + whatever else we ran away with.

Gainey was in a desperate situation and made an absurd decision to trade for Gomez. Good for Sather taking advantage of the situation, but I don't think it should really be used to support his supposed trading prowess.

It's been quite a bit since sather's made a deal with his EDM buddies anyway. The annual phoenix trade can wait :sarcasm:

Coyotes trade Henrik Samuelsson to Rangers for Michael St.Croix and Benoit Pouliot :sarcasm: Samuelsson to coach his son :handclap:

Considering the abominations EDM has been doing this week, I would say that's desperation. (or they are just bat **** crazy)

To be fair sather has made more solid trades, of course not in the same huge impact as a McDonaugh. Avery worked wonderfully for us for awhile considering we gave up (I want to say Ward?) for him.

I trust Sather with trades. He either does it on his terms or not at all, for the most part.

And the Blue Jackets would only be interested in Stepan, McD, or Kreider and only a package involving them...

Doesn't matter what the Oilers are interested in. They're not the ones with the leverage. Yak is a risk. He can bolt. He hasn't lived up to expectations. He's a defensive liability on the ice. He's not putting up goals either. He's not a stellar member of the locker room according to any and all reports coming out of Edmonton. Might be a nice guy with good intentions but he's been labeled uncoachable and selfish.

Nash, an established leader with proven production, couldn't net one of Kreider, McD, or Stepan. Why would a 20 immature year old who hasn't put any of it together and is a risk to leave at any point or a risk to disrupt a locker room get more?

MDZ + would certainly get it done. Edm GM wants to save face. He **** up by not taking Murray. Only reason he hasn't traded Yak is so that he doesn't look like a complete moron for wasting the best possible pick in the draft during the clubs rebuilding.

Only thing is Rangers aren't pressuring Edmonton to make a deal because they have no need to. They're beginning to play well and the locker room is beginning to gel. Nash is recovering, seemingly. Why disrupt that? If Yak continues to disappoint and/or begins voicing public displeasure with being on the club his value will only continue to go down. Similarly, if he gets better he may actually become off the table - as being reported. Only reason I'm calling BS that he's off the table now is because Edmonton has GLARING holes and are still rebuilding. They need a G, they need 4 D, Schultz was an epic fail too. DZ + another prospect defender (Skjei for example) would help them. Add in another veteran perhaps and that trade makes a lot of sense for Edmonton.

Looks like they'll get a top 3 pick. They have enough offense without Yak. They need to start picking defense. They'll take defense in this draft most likely. They need more. DZ is still young. Skjei is young.

Yak is not yielding McD or Girardi.

Get off of it people.

Think Edmonton is in a position of power? Yak can essentially choose where he wants to go. He can play the "go back to russia card". Radulov did it and was still accepted back in the NHL. Zherdev had a similar problem. Nino with the Islanders.

MDZ +. Now is Sather willing to let go of that... that's really the question.

Yak will be gone by deadline.

Nash handcuffed Columbus by approving a trade to only five teams and not all of them had the cap space to take him on.

29 teams are kicking the tires on Yakupov, warts and all.
