Anaheim is loaded with goalies and wouldn't give up all of that for another one. Even if it is Lundqvist.

Hiller is gone at the end of the year, Fasth isn't anything special, and Gibson would be included in the grade. That leaves Lundqvist and Andersen as their future goaltending tandem.

Fasth has looked damn good. He's injured right now. Andersen has also looked damn good.

Maybe, but they should save some slots for NCAA FA's come the end of the college hockey season.

Maybe. Depends on who's available and what the level of mutual interest is. It takes two to tango and there are 29 other teams potentially competing for every undrafted FA.

If they think he's good and he's interested in signing, pull the trigger now. I'd rather they have at least a couple of slots left come spring, but don't hold off on a guy you legitimately like out of fear that there MIGHT be somebody better who MIGHT be interested in signing with the Rangers who MIGHT be available at the end of the season.

Besides, wouldn't the contract likely push to next year - when we have like 30 open slots as of right now?

Speaking of Hank--what if he does get dealt.

I don't throw trade proposal out there but think about this,

Would Hank want to go to the Blues--Stanley Cup to the music city.

Package from the Blues:

Vladimir Tarasenko $900,000
Alex Pietrangelo $6,500.000
Jaroslav Halak $3,750.000

Total of $11,150.00

For

Hank $6,875,000
Michael Del Zotto $2,550,000
Brian Boyle $1,700.00

Total of $11,125.00

Salary works--and a lot for the Blues to give up(not saying they would just throwing out there)but it could put the Blues over the top.

Equal value--or way off---and don't get me wrong I know the value of Pietrangelo but there's no way the Blues would do 1 for 1.

Blow it up.

You really think the blues would give up both tarasenko and pietrangelo? Lol

Not like their getting back Pyatt.

Your telling me Hank isn't worth a top D-man(1 of the best in the league) and a 2 year player(again very good potential).

On second though what if he said he would sign with them in the off-season--then does it sound better.

I'm really on the fence on this. I'd have to think long and hard about this. One second I like it, the next meeh not so much. Decent proposal though.

Consider the ages. Also, Halak is a good goalie, not like they have garbage. No way they give that up. If they do I'm jumping on it. This D with Pietrangelo and another offensive threat in Tarasenko? We'll have the best D in the league by a wide margin and all of a sudden a pretty damn good O too. Talbot will be good enough to play on that D.

I'd take that. Don't see the Blues doing it though...

We lose the best goalie in the world, and replace him with an average, but by no means bad goalie.

Then we upgrade Del Zaster to a superstar defender, and Boyle to one of the best young talents in the world. Easy yes from my perspective.

Value is slightly skewed to benefit the Rangers. Whatever.

The real issue is the pending contract issues with Lundqvist, Del Zotto, and Boyle.

Couple of interesting tweets:

With NYR GM Glen Sather in TOR for HHOF/GMs meeting, expectation is there'll be Henrik Lundqvist contract talks with agent Don Meehan.

Good, let's get it done.

Craig Custance ‏@CraigCustance 4m
If EDM unhappy with him, Larionov said Yak open to trade: "We're willing to make a move. Any team. That happens and that's part of life."

Saw that Larionov is making the trip to Edmonton to see what's good up there. Will be interesting to follow for sure.

Things are heating up between Yak and Edmonton. I don't see how he remains on the team another month.

I love Hank as much as anyone else here but there is no way the Blues do that trade.

The hotter it gets, the lower his potential trade value.

Teams will start thinking KHL is the next stop if he doesn't hit a home run right away with them.

Good. Come to the Rangers.

He's a talent we haven't been able to draft due to our position in the standings.

There's no way the blues would do that trade, whether Hank is signed or not. The difference between Hank and Halak might be Tarasenko, maybe, but even then, I doubt the blues would trade Tarasenko and Halak for Hank. And there's no way MDZ + Boyle gets us Petro.

Man, I still think it's a risky trade if it involves assets that would have value elsewhere.

If this kid bolts to the KHL it's going to be a blow to Russians going forwarded in the draft. I know it sounds stupid and GMs will always take the BPA/best need, but at what point does the whole "Russian factor" actually start having a negative effect on these kids unfairly all over the league, and not just with certain xenophobic GMS or clubs?

I wonder if you could make a trade involving conditional draft picks based on whether Yakupov is in the NHL in 2015.

I don't see why you couldn't

You just have to wonder if a rebuilding team like Edmonton would accept that. Maybe if it was something like player, prospect, prospect/player 2nd/3rd/etc.
