People really saying they wouldn't trade Kreider for Yukupov? Wow

The kid didnt go 1st overall for nothing, he is ELITE talent, Kreider is not.

Haggling over Miller?

The real issue is I can guarantee you Edmonton wouldnt be particularly interested in a deal where Del Zotto is the centerpiece for Yakupov -- unless, of course, Yakupov is an even bigger malcontent than he seems to be.

Russians love New York or at least that's what they say every time we acquire one.

Burrows is 32. First year of a four year contract. $4.5M cap hit. Pass. The Rangers aren't getting Kesler. Del Zotto might cry having to play for Tortorella and Sullivan again.

Why? He's played his best hockey for those two guys.

He's playing like **** for AV, some players need a task master to get them to stay on top of their games.

MDZ did well with Torts.

When exactly did Kreider fall out of favor?

He fell out of favor when a random Edmonton blogger wanted to tantalize his readers with the idea that we would trade him for Ales Hemsky.

I read some of the Edmonton board. Amazing how quickly they went from "Playoffs this year!" to "Screw it. Keep tanking and Ekblad will fix it."

It's good to see that Canadian hockey writers are every bit as clueless as their American counterparts.

want nothing to do with Hemsky.

He's not providing an offensive boost for a team whose struggles on offence are worse then our own.

How is he going to come in here and boost our offence when he can't do **** for his current team?

I don't care if it's Pyatt and they retain all of his salary, I want nothing to do with Hemsky.

Not downplaying Yakupov's elite skill level, but there are players that I would not trade and Kreider is one.

I would want to play Yakupov on the same line as Kreider.

Kreider - Stepan - Yakupov

Two solid offensive contributors that have a defensive awareness that would allow Yakupov to do what he does best.

It's not a matter of value, it's a matter of fit.

We didn't move Kreider for Nash who is and was a proven 35+ goal guy where as Yak hasn't proven bupkiss.

I'm in that camp that passes on a deal if they are insistent on Kreider being part of it.

SUCH a nasty line.

Or you could go:

Nash-Stepan-Yakupov

Either would be crazy good.

  • MDZ + Miller + Brassard + MSC for Yakupov + Hemsky
  • Kristo + 2nd for Rundblad
  • Boyle + Lindberg for Zibanejad

Lots of young Europeans :p:

Trading for Yakupov makes too much sense. I'd be willing to part with Girardi or Del Zotto for him.

couple things.

edmonton is a bad team. defensively they are terrible. goaltending is bad. they are just plain bad.

but they are loaded with young forwards. there isnt enough minutes for all of them. yakupov has been the odd man out with reduced minutes, line shuffling and healthy scratches. his game is off. his mind is toast. but he has mad skills. we need that.

add to that the canadian media sniping at him and making love to guys like rnh, taylor hall and eberle. yak is the russian black sheep on that team. and he gives dumb interviews to an all too willing press that wants to fillet him. not good.

there isnt enough minutes for all these young forwards. plus they have gagne, arcobello, smyth, hemsky and a bunch of other guys too. yak is expendable.

something has to give there. they DONT want forwards. they need help in net and blueline. we are deep defensively.

girardi
mdz
moore
mcilrath

those are the guys in play. 3 roster players and mcilrath who i dont believe has that much value any where but in nyc. sadly.

Yakupov is the closer to the type of finisher we need.

He's fallen out of favor in Edmonton. Many fans claim that he's a locker room cancer - although that could just be false.

And i'm willing to bet both Edmonton and other teams will be scared for him bolting back to Russia.

Kreider for Yakupov is absolutely hysterical. And it's actually upsetting that so much of this fan base is ok with that. A lot of spoiled brats. Tired of coming on this board and reading how we should trade our prospects for other people's finished products, especially when there is absolutely no logic to doing so.

Just like everyone comes on, reads a rumor, and are like "yup i'm all for it let's start the movement".

Edmonton would be lucky to get Del Zotto and Brassard out of us for Yak, let alone anything like a top prospect. Yakupov might be an elite talent - wheres the production? All hype, nothing has materialized yet. To make matters worse they're treating him really poorly and i'm sure he's already on the lines with his agent voicing his frustrating.

If it gets worse in Edmonton he'll force their hand and make his unhappiness public at which point he'll alienate the fans and they'll be urging for his removal too. At that point they'll be so happy to see him leave they won't care if he goes back to Russia for nothing as long as he just gets out of their hair. That really diminishes the bargaining power by their GM to get anything of substance for the winger. Edmonton fans are passionate about their hockey, Yak and Schultz are really in the dog house right now.

That's a very young club. Not much veteran leadership to really keep their young players in line. He needs vets to help him and help him mature both as a player and as a professional. Coming to NY could be a Godsend for him. It's a good match between the teams.

We have replacement for MDZ. We have a replacement for Brassard. Both in the AHL. I'm gonna say that's our trade deadline deal.

If we could move a package centered around Girardi, MDZ or Moore for Yakupov that's a deal we should make. I would think they want McDonagh in return.

That's like being given the option between Jennifer Aniston and Lindsay Lohan at their primes. How do you know which one will be better? Can you predict the future? Lindsay had a lot of flash and hype, where'd she end up?

You mean to tell me you know how players will perform at this stage? Who wins the cup in 2017?

EJ Hradek was at the Rangers-Ducks game last night. He is hosting NHL Live with Dave Maloney today. Steve Mears has the day off. Hradek believes/speculated Edmonton was there to see the Ducks goaltender Fredrik Andersen. He didn't mention the Brooks rumor.

Also, boobs.

Man, that's tough.

if its eberle, i consider moving mcd. eberles that good. and he wont move to russia.

if its yakupov, i dont agree to mcd. hes a superstar guy in waiting. his wheels are just too good. i dont even want moore in that group. hes got scary wheels too and those guys you keep.

the deal for yakupov has to be girardi/mdz and mcilrath. and we need a dman back in that deal if we move girardi. add a pick- which edm doesnt need or want or a defensive forward like hrivik or lindberg.

makes too much sense. girardi anchors that defense and mcilrath gets his shot in western canada and brings instant fear to opposing forwards. edmonton likes to play young guys. dylan is sure that.

i honestly dont even think del zotto helps the oil. add him to that roster and they arent much better. sorry.
