Something is going on here - all of these old players (Roenick, Messier, Carter, Bissonette etc) are breaking his balls over stupid reasons. Did he turn down interviews or to be part of a team like the 4 nations? I feel like I'm watching the male version of The View.

What's funny is that Bedard is overperforming against his expected goals while Burt Macklin is underperforming.

I hope they give Bedard an 8 year $12m deal. Lock him up "cheap" like MacKinnon during his prime and then when he's 29 he'll be up for his next deal. The cap is going to rise a ton and I really don't want to have to play the Auston Matthews contract game with Bedard every 4 years. I'd honestly be very annoyed at that as I think much less of players who are clearly only here for the $$$.
I really liked how the top line looks now with Slaggert and Donato on Bedard's wing.
Ok Donato is on a ridiculous heater, but that's a very big part due to Bedard as well.
I think Bedard really benefits having two grinder type players next to him. Just ideally at least one of those would also be a top line caliber skills wise or at least scoring wise.
But like that he can hang back a bit, be more of a rover, utilize the space made for him.by the others on the forecheck and along the boards etc. Thats where his elite vision and shot really shine.
I don't know who those forwards can be though. Hossa, prime Saad, Stone, Vilardi... These type of wingers. Even lesser tier players like Tuch, Meier, or Lehkonen.
Non of the FAs from this crop fit that bill though. Bennett I would say, but he's age and Florida retaining could be problems.

Lastc3GP Bedard has just 1a and Zero Goals.. In 2 of tgese 3games he generated just 1 shog (albeit 1 goal disallowed but that still woukd just 3 shog in 2 ofvtge 3 games...the other he had 5shog but no points..
In total just 1a and 7 shog over 3GP= not going to score many goals with such poor shog of merely 2.33 /game average..
A poor set of 3 games for him..

of the 8 forwards to have at least 100 5v5 minutes with bedard this season, only nazar (the one bedard has played the fewest minutes with at 103:22) has seen more goals for than against per 60 with bedard. donato breaks even. everyone else is negative. what's interesting is of those 8 forwards, nazar paired with bedard has the worst on ice shots for percentage of the bunch. second worst is bertuzzi, followed by kurashev, and then donato. bedard sees the most on ice shots with turbo, the only one of this group to have a positive 5v5 sf% on the ice with bedard (slaggert deserves an honorable mention here for being the only other forward with more than a minute of 5v5 time with bedard and a positive 5v5 sf%).
all that to say i can kind of see why they'd be throwing up their hands and running whatever works and breaking out the blender for when it doesn't. maybe try a line of turbo/slaggert - bedard or nazar - nazar or bedard/bertuzzi? i dunno man.
