Getting back to the conversation from this morning.

When did Stamkos struggle?

http://espn.go.com/nhl/player/stats/_/id/5037/steven-stamkos

Boston had Seguin playing out of position. The kid is a natural center and Boston had him at right wing. Boston has two really good centers. In Seguin's rookie year,Claude Julien gave him a tough time about being a complete player. Dallas Eakins is trying to do the same thing. Boston got mad at Seguin for not playing well in the playoffs and they didn't like his off the ice lifestyle.

Death, taxes and ODC including McIlrath in trade proposals. :)

I hate to break it to ya, but I really get the sense that Rangers management is in it for the long haul with McIlrath, my friend...

oh ive no doubt. the league might not agree but no matter.

not including him a deal that gets us a bona fide offensive talent, esp. given the nasher situation, is dumb. hes a scary guy if he blooms. if he doesnt, hes hal gill.

people are including guys like kreider and miller in deals and no one blinks.

add mcilraths name and people freek. man can we over value potential.

Uhhh pretty much everyone is blinking at including Kreider. I like McIlrath, but I agree that he is far from untouchable in a deal for Yakupov.

Bruce Garrioch wrote two Sundays ago about Kreider falling out of favor and everyone has taken it as the truth. He also wrote in June that JT Miller was a "disappointment" last season and the Rangers were shopping him for more established players.

A few things:

-I would NOT trading McDonagh for anyone on Edmonton unless it's Taylor Hall. End of story.
-Girardi is slowly becoming the odd man out in NYC. He's too immobile and not good with the puck at all, both extreme negatives in AV's system. His minutes are going down (along with every other player on the team, lol) but McD's and Staal's stay high. I don't think AV is a fan of him.
-If we trade for Yakupov they would probably want Miller in return. They don't need a Kreider or Kristo. They need hard working defensive forwards, they have enough pure offensive talent.
-On that note, unless it's for Hall or MAYBE Eberle, I would not trading Kreider.
-If Girardi AND Del Zotto are going to Edmonton, I want J. Schultz coming back with whoever is coming here.
-I want no part in Ales Hemsky. At all.

Just a footnote:

McIlrath's value to this organization shoots way up everytime a game like last night happens. That Penner-Getzlaf-Perry line had their way with our D. Not big enough to stop them, all monstrous athletes.

Frankly, regardless of what posters on this site may offer, I don't believe any one of Kreider, Miller or McIlrath is going to be included in any of the "deals" being bandied about by this board.

someones gonna do a deal with edmonton soon. they are loaded with talent up front.

watch us pass and then expect to hear how we were unwilling to part with any of our "young guys".... too much potential.

meanwhile, we continue to score 2 goals per game.....

and seriously, if we are unwilling to include any of our young guys like mdz, kreider, miller, mcilrath or kristo, then we will settle for scraps and leftovers.

i hang onto mcdonough just because hes that good.

Spot on, except for the last bit about McIlrath. They were almost exclusively going up against McD-Girardi, and that pairing doesn't lack size or strength. One of them does however lack mobility and the ability to escape a forecheck, which I think was more of the issue TBH.

I don't think McIlrath will ever become a good enough defenceman to handle top shutdown minutes. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think he'll get there.

Your statement is just factually wrong.

i dont understand how you guys think girardi has fallen out of favor, is going to ask for a ton of money being a fa, and should be traded.. hes traded what happens? falk plays, stralman gets more mins:shakehead and you guys dig deeper into MDZ.. girardi is our rock.. he isn't going anywhere..

MDZ
Stralman
Moore
Girardi
Staal
MCD is prob the pecking order of being traded..

MDZ is being shopped but slats wont trade for pics and prospects.. these guys weren't in the nash trade so why would they be traded for scrubs or futures... come on now.. yak or top 6 talent or we keep him.. hes 23!...23.. so many years ahead of him and he will get better..

Let's look at 5v5 which is the situation I think most are thinking about when considering minutes:

Code:
12-13 EVTm%
McDonagh	41.4
Girardi	39.5
Staal 42.0
Strålman	32.0
Del Zotto	36.9
Moore	21.8

13-14 EVTm%
McDonagh	34.7
Girardi	33.7
Staal 34.6
Strålman	33.8
Del Zotto	33.8
Moore	30.3

Delta EVTm%
McDonagh	-6.7
Girardi	-5.8
Staal -7.4
Strålman	+1.8
Del Zotto	-3.1
Moore	+8.5

As we can see, AV basically rolls three pairings 5v5. PK is basically the same, except that Strålman has picked up a lot more minutes while Del Zotto never plays. Girardi has lost a ton of PP time that has gone to McD and Moore.

If they are scouting Carolina-Philadelphia, who are they looking at? Gotta be Coburn from Philly. Carolina also needs D and the D they already have they aren't sending to Edmonton. Certainly not looking at either of these teams goaltenders.

Maybe they just needed to get away from the toxic frat house Lowe and MacTavish have created for a few days
